  • Publication number: 20060051719
Abstract: A venturi tube has a configuration of baffles affixed thereto that serve to greatly reduce the susceptibility of a gas burning appliance to wind gusts. The baffles cooperate to force incoming primary combustion air through a circuitous route before introduction into a flow of gaseous fuel. The circuitous route in combination with the volume of air that is contained within the baffling serves to substantially reduce flame blowout.

  • Publication number: 20060048764
Abstract: A barbecue apparatus is disclosed that allows a hinged lid to be rotationally reoriented so as to serve as a wind deflector when in its open position. While the base of the apparatus remains rigidly stationary, the fire bowl to which the lid is hinged is temporarily released from the base, lifted and rotated into a desired position and positively locked in place. Rotation of the burner in one direction serves to release the fire bowl from being rotationally locked to the base yet prevents its detachment therefrom while rotation in the opposite direction locks the fire bowl and associated components in place.

  • Patent number: 6253760
Abstract: An outdoor cooking device wherein a smooth and uncluttered appearance is achieved by the concealment of the gas supply and gas flow control mechanisms when not in use. A door conceals the gas supply canister which swings outwardly for better access when the door is opened. The gas flow control and lighting mechanisms are attached to the inside surface of a panel that swings outwardly to provide access and closes flush when not in use. The cooking device additionally has a lid that is attached by a compound hinge that allows the lid to swing out of the way and downwardly to prevent accidental closure.
