  • Patent number: 6611421
Abstract: Non-polar tantalum capacitors and non-polar tantalum capacitor arrays with compact designs are provided. The reduced volume and footprint of the capacitors and arrays in turn reduces the amount of space required in any device in which they are used. In addition, the cost of materials is reduced, and the manufacturing is simplified. Some embodiments of the present invention provide an electromechanical connector between the anode rods of each pair of polar tantalum capacitors, and insulation between the remainder of the capacitor bodies, thus providing a non-polar tantalum capacitor. These non-polar capacitors are mechanically connected to make a non-polar tantalum capacitor array. Other embodiments of the present invention provide for physically connecting the anode rods of the polar capacitors. An insulating encapsulant around the connected rods and between the polar capacitor bodies also holds the capacitors and capacitor arrays together.

  • Patent number: 6241073
Abstract: Apparatus for aligning and orienting generally elongate objects of irregular shape and variable dimensions such as wood residue. The apparatus includes a plurality of spaced, rollers to transport the objects in a direction of transport from an inlet zone through a sorting zone to an outlet zone by rotation of the rollers. There are a plurality of aligning walls extending over the rollers parallel to the direction of transport from the outlet zone toward the inlet zone. There are also eccentric vanes mounted to some of the rollers to rotate with the rollers to move through the objects on the rollers. Objects introduced into the inlet zone in a generally random, entangled collection are aligned and oriented in the direction of transport into generally, parallel, stacked relationship at the outlet zone by movement over the rollers between the aligning walls subject to the action of the eccentric vanes.

  • Patent number: 6243377
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for enabling simultaneous transmission of voice and data signals over a single subscriber line. Signals are time division multiplexed preferably using an ISDN access format such as the Basic Access or Primary Rate formats, but are treated separately at the exchange. Subscriber equipment combines signals from local computer and telephone devices for separation at corresponding exchange equipment. Similarly the exchange equipment combines signals from one or more packet networks and the public telephone network for separation at the subscriber equipment. Data signals are therefore passed by the exchange directly to or from a packet switched network while voice signals are passed directly to or from a telephone switched network. Channels available over the subscriber line are dynamically allocated with telephone signals generally taking preference over data signals.

  • Patent number: 5808601
Abstract: An analog to a gravitation force field is generated mathematically to operate between the displayed image of the mouse selection pointer on the screen of a computer display as it interacts with defined selectable objects on the screen. Unlike true gravity, however, the force may be mathematically defined as positive or negative and, thus, permits both attractive and repulsive effects to be imposed upon the movement of the mouse selection pointer displayed on the screen. The paradigm of interaction between the mouse selection pointer displayed on the screen and objects which are selectable thereon is changed to include effects of "mass" as represented by an effective field of force operating between the mouse selection pointer display and various selectable items on the screen.
