  • Publication number: 20200233109
Abstract: Disclosed and described herein are systems and methods used to analyze ultrasonic waves and nondestructively infer acoustic wave velocities and dynamic elastic properties of materials. Disclosed methods employ the selective rotation of ultrasonic transducers immersed in a liquid (water) adjacent to the sample under study.

  • Patent number: 8640319
Abstract: A nail clipping system comprises two opposed surfaces (relatively flat, curved or ergonomically or functionally non-planar) hinged at one end. The hinge may be a living hinge made from the same or similar structural material as the opposed surfaces, or may be a spring-loaded hinge connecting the two opposed surfaces. Associated with an upper one of the opposed surfaces is at least one (relatively) downward exterior plate, and associated with a lower one of the opposed surfaces is at least one (relatively) upward interior plate directly opposed to a downward exterior plate. The at least one downward exterior plate has a slot therein accessible to finger nails. The slot may be linear or curved (to accommodate the curve of nails). The at least one upward interior plate has a blade element that slides along an interior surface of the downward exterior plate and across the slot therein.

  • Patent number: 7112108
Abstract: A watercraft (10,40, 60, 90, 110, 200, 210, 310) is disclosed which is propelled by at least one pair of pivoted sheets (28, 29) which are reciprocated through the water by a propulsion mechanism (18, 25, 45, 48, 91, 92) which is driven by repeated weight transfer of an operator's body (20). Also disclosed is a hull assembly system (61, 161, 261). The water craft disclosed are particularly suited as pleasure craft able to be transported by a vehicle and operated by many classes of persons including those without endurance or stamina.

  • Patent number: 6196567
Abstract: A folding base for a kick stand comprising a stack of panels disposed within a housing. The panels are rotatably attached to the housing by means of a spindle, and may alternately be fanned out into an extended position, or retracted into the housing for storage and/or transportation. The housing comprises an upper deck sized to accommodate a kick stand foot of a two-wheeled vehicle kick stand. When extended, the folding base for a kick stand provides a secure base to prevent the kick stand foot from sinking into soft surfaces such as mud, grass, sand, etc., thereby preventing the two-wheeled vehicle such as a motorcycle or bicycle from toppling over and possibly being damaged or hurting someone. The kick stand foot is securely held in place on the housing upper deck by means of a clip and upper deck walls. Due to the resilient nature of the clip, the folding base for a kick stand may be quickly and easily installed and removed from the kick stand.

  • Patent number: 5120228
Abstract: An intrinsic perceptual motor training device comprising a data recording apparatus for recording when a patients body moves out of a test area. The data recording apparatus includes a pulse generator that generates a signal pulse whenever a beam of light associated with a test area defining elements is interrupted. The pulse generator is coupled to a strip chart to mark a real time strip chart whenever one of the test area defining beams is interrupted. The pulse generator can also be connected to a computer and the signal pulse used in conjunction with data analysis software.

  • Patent number: 4906193
Abstract: A perceptual motor training device uses a non-tactile method of training a patient who has suffered some interruption of his neurological functions to recognize the spatial position and orientation of his body and/or the parts thereof. The device includes an alarm that is activated when a portion of the patient's body moves out of a predetermined test area. The alarm alerts the patient without touching the patient so the patient is forced to use his own internal systems to determine the location and orientation of his body and the parts thereof. The test area is defined by beams and/or fields and can include test areas within the overall test area. The device can also be used in conjunction with the training of gross motor developmental sequences as well.

  • Patent number: 4203387
Abstract: A cage for low pressure chemical depositions reactors to provide for the relatively uniform deposition of silicon dioxide and phosphorus doped polysilicon along the length of a reactor by the chemical decomposition of silane. The cage is comprised of an open structure, generally surrounding semiconductor wafers supported on boats within the reactor, so as to discourage preferential deposition rates adjacent the silane inlet region of the reactor, and to encourage a more uniform distribution of the decomposable gas along the reactor length to effect more uniform deposition rates than previously accomplished. The open structure helps to quickly develop the flow along the reactor so that the flow quickly stabilizes adjacent the inlet end of the reactor and remains substantially uniform thereafter. Longitudinal alignment of the major elements of the cage provides continuous flow surfaces along the length of the reactor.
