  • Publication number: 20240027533
Abstract: A system for measuring a complex impedance associated with an arrangement of battery or fuel cells in an energy storage system may include a controller, a current measurement device, and voltage measurement devices. The current measurement device may be shared by the cells for measuring a test current provided to the cells. The voltage measurement devices may be respectively coupled across corresponding cells. The controller, the current measurement device, and the voltage measurement devices may be coupled together using a DC isolated bus. The controller may determine a respective complex impedance of corresponding groups of the cells using a complex voltage measured by a respective voltage measurement device coupled across a corresponding group of the cells and a complex current measured by the complex current measurement device.

  • Publication number: 20230366944
Abstract: Battery monitoring techniques, which consume low amounts of power, are described herein. The battery monitoring techniques can be used when the host device (e.g., electric vehicle) is not operating, thus providing a time to use low power techniques. Measurement devices can measure system parameters when a host processor is off or in a low power mode using a heartbeat (HB) sequencing technique. Based on the HB message, the host processor can be alerted and awakened when a fault is detected.

  • Patent number: 8908779
Abstract: A method and interface for serial communication is provided. The interface includes a differential input/output having a first node and a second node. There are several input/output nodes arranged to receive serial interface signals. The interface includes a transmitter configured to drive a twisted pair cable at the differential input/output. There is a receiver coupled to the differential input/output that includes a window comparator. A serial port control unit provides serial data to the transmitter and receives serial data from the receiver. The serial communications interface transmits serial data to and receives serial data from a second serial communications interface independent of a reference clock and is galvanically isolated from the second serial communications interface.

  • Patent number: 6115441
Abstract: A temperature detector comprising temperature sensing circuitry, calibration circuitry, and power regular circuitry. The temperature sensing circuitry has an output that varies with temperature to create a temperature variation. The calibration circuitry is coupled to receive the output that varies with temperature to create a temperature variation. The calibration circuitry interprets the temperature variation and outputs a valve that represents the temperature. The power supply regulator circuitry coordinates power to the temperature sensing circuitry.
