  • Patent number: 9164558
Abstract: In one implementation, a classification resistance of a powered device is adjusted passively. The powered device is configured to receive a classification voltage from a network device and, in response, is configured to send a first current indicative of a first classification resistor to the network device. The first current and first classification resistor indicate a power requirement when no accessories are connected to the powered device. When at least one accessory is connected to the powered device, the powered device is configured to send a second current indicative of a second classification resistor to the network device. The second classification resistor is isolated from other circuitry of the at least one accessory. The second classification resistor may be located in the powered device, the accessory, or a connector coupled to the powered device and the accessory.
    Type: Grant

  • Publication number: 20120246458
Abstract: Power allocated to a plurality of external ports of a thin client device is optimized based on power available to the thin client device that interoperates with a host device. A determination is made as to available power for the thin client device. Operational states of a plurality of external ports of the thin client device are configured based on the available power and operational settings for the thin client device. These operational settings could be user or administrator configured, pre-configured into the thin client device, or a combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 8094808
Abstract: A method and apparatus provide an IP telephone or similar device with a mechanism to receive and at least briefly loop back discovery signals received from a telecommunications device such as an Ethernet switch while not permitting the loop back of data packet signals. No mechanical relays are required and the circuitry can be fully integrated on an integrated circuit using commonly available techniques, if desired.
    Type: Grant
