  • Publication number: 20070283978
Abstract: A professional hair styling system includes a powered base station which provides a cavity for a hair styling implement; a hair styling implement such as a curling iron which has a heatable surface and a heating element therein; and a holster unit to be worn by the user which provides holders for the hair styling implement and a first rechargeable battery pack. The hair styling implement may include a second rechargeable battery pack. When positioned in the cavity of the base station, the heatable surface of the implement can be heated or its rechargeable battery pack recharged. A power cord can connect the implement with the first rechargeable battery pack when the first rechargeable battery pack is in the second pouch of the holster unit. Whether the hair styling implement is connected to the second rechargeable battery pack or not, the user (hair stylist) can move freely about the customer during its use with no concern about entanglement with a long power cord which extends to a mains power supply.

  • Publication number: 20060241360
Abstract: Disclosed a living body measuring apparatus which comprises data measurement means for measuring plural types of biological data of a user, data selection means for selecting one of the plural types of measured biological data, data display means for displaying the selected biological data, a plurality of light emitters corresponding to the plural types of biological data, and illumination control means for activating one of the light emitters which corresponds to one selected from the biological data by the data selection means. The living body measuring apparatus of the present invention can eliminate the possibility of user's confusion about biological data display and operational complication, at the lowest cost possible.

  • Publication number: 20050247494
Abstract: An electronic scale and body fat measuring apparatus is provided which has particular applicability to electronic scales and body fat measuring devices for medical and personal use. The electronic scale suggests a goal weight and/or goal body fat percentage or optionally allows the user to enter their own target goals. The scale displays a comparison of their current weight and goal weight and/or current body fat percentage and goal body fat percentage.

  • Publication number: 20050155246
Abstract: A height measuring apparatus and a bioinstrumentation apparatus with a height measuring device are provided capable of precise measurement accuracy without being affected by an examinee and being highly convenient to assemble, handle and operate. A height detector (a transceiver and a reflector or a transmitter and a receiver having a communication conformation with a laser or ultra sonic beam) has components arranged in a movable part (a head-contact arm or a movable bar) and in a stationary part (a height measurement unit (base platform) or a fixed bar) of a telescoping height measurement bar such that a communication signal route between the parts is not blocked when an examinee is standing thereon, to obtain a height measurement by detecting the distance between the movable and stationary parts.

  • Patent number: 6472617
Abstract: A practical and accurate body fat scale which utilizes handheld body fat sensors connected to the scale base to aid in determining body fat content. The handheld sensors detect the higher concentrations of fat located in the upper body, as compared to the lower extremities, and therefore provides an accurate and meaningful assessment of body fat content.

  • Publication number: 20020143267
Abstract: A metabolic fitness training apparatus is provided which measures the concentration of acetone in a trainer's breath while exercising. The metabolic fitness training apparatus include a housing, an acetone sensitive sensor, an optical detection circuit, and a mouthpiece attached to the housing. The sensor contains reagents such as salicylaldehyde or derivatives thereof which react with acetone to change the optical transparency of the sensor. The optical detection circuit may include a LED and a photodetector or a photometric instrument to measure the change in optical transparency of the sensor, and convert that change to acetone concentration. There may also be a display for viewing the acetone concentration.
