Patent number: 9809988Abstract: A pool jet fitting can include an insert housing defining an insert body, a housing channel, and a base disposed within the housing channel. The base can include an outer sidewall that defines an internal chamber. The fitting has a valve disposed within the internal chamber. The valve includes a valve body, a valve channel that extends into the valve body along the first direction, and a valve opening that extends through the valve body and into the valve channel along a second direction that is angularly offset with respect to the first direction. The valve is movable between a first position whereby the valve opening has a first area through which the water flow moves and a second position whereby the valve opening has a second area through which the water flow moves that is greater than the first area.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2014Date of Patent: November 7, 2017Assignee: Eco-Blu Pool Components LLCInventors: James Mulhern, Stephen Antonishak, Sean Walsh

Publication number: 20130185863Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment, a pool jet fitting can include a housing and a redirector coupled to the housing. The housing can include a housing body and a bore that extends through the housing body along a first direction. The bore is configured to receive a water flow. The redirector is disposed within the bore of the housing. The redirector can define an opening through which the water flow moves. The redirector can include an actuator that is configured to automatically move the opening from a first configuration to a second configuration upon application of heat to the water flow by a heater. The water flow through the opening has a first trajectory when the opening is in the first configuration and a second trajectory when the opening is in the second configuration. The second trajectory is different than the first trajectory relative to the first direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 23, 2013Publication date: July 25, 2013Inventors: James Mulhern, Sean Walsh

Publication number: 20070145711Abstract: A vehicle is disclosed having a pair of drive wheels, at least one ground-engaging front wheel connected to the frame forward of the drive wheels and at least one ground-contacting anti-tip wheel mounted to the vehicle rearward of the drive wheels. The drive wheels and anti-tip wheels are mounted on common suspension arms, pivoted to the frame of the vehicle behind the drive wheels and resiliently suspended, so that the anti-tip wheels move up and down in response to movements of the drive wheel suspension.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 16, 2007Publication date: June 28, 2007Inventors: James Mulhern, Charles Martis, Gerald White, Kip Alder

Publication number: 20060022445Abstract: An anti-tip system is provided for improving the stability of a powered vehicle, such as a powered wheelchair. The vehicle includes a drive-train assembly which is pivotally mounted to a main structural frame. A suspension system biases the drive-train assembly and its connected anti-tip wheel to a predetermined resting position. The drive-train assembly bi-directionally rotates about a pivot in response to torque applied to or acceleration forces on the vehicle. A linkage arrangement is provided and is characterized by a suspension arm pivotally mounting to the main structural frame about a pivot at one end thereof and an anti-tip wheel at the other end. The linkage may further include at least one link operable to transfer the bi-directional displacement of the drive-train assembly to the suspension arm. The link may include a bell crank member and/or may be resiliently compressible.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2005Publication date: February 2, 2006Inventors: James Mulhern, Ronald Levi, Christopher Grymko

Publication number: 20050257966Abstract: A power wheelchair is provided having one or more anti-tip wheels for stabilizing the movement of the frame about the drive wheels. An anti-tip wheel is attached to the end of a suspension arm which is pivotally attached to the frame of the wheelchair. A spring resiliently supports the anti-tip wheel in a neutral position relative to the ground upon which the drive wheels of the wheelchair normal ride. A retaining system selectively fixes position of the anti-tip wheels relative to the frame. The retaining system employs a plurality of teeth, with one portion disposed in combination with said suspension arm, and at least one other tooth disposed for engaging said one portion to provide unidirectional retention of the position of said suspension arm relative to the frame. The engagement of the teeth to lock the position of the suspension arm may be responsive to the torque generated by the motor.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 27, 2005Publication date: November 24, 2005Inventors: James Mulhern, Ronald Levi, George Leitner
