  • Publication number: 20240381043
Abstract: A playback device is configured to: based on a room setting of the playback device, determine that the playback device is associated with a first room of a media playback system; operate in a first mode that is associated with a first user type and a first set of playback control options; determine that the room setting of the playback device has changed; determine that the playback device is no longer associated with the first room and is associated with a second room of the media playback system; transition to operating in a second mode; determine that the playback device is no longer associated with the second room and is associated with the first room; transition to operating in the first mode; receive a playback command; determine that the playback command corresponds to a playback control option within the first set; and execute the playback command.

  • Publication number: 20240292167
Abstract: Spatial maps can be constructed that represent the relative positions of media playback system components within an environment. In one method, an orchestrator device transmits an instruction to a plurality of playback devices to initiate a localization session. After receiving the instruction, a first playback device transmits a localization signal which is received by the second playback device. Based on the localization signal, a spatial measurement parameter is obtained. The spatial measurement parameter is transmitted to a mapper device, which then constructs a spatial map of the environment including at least the first playback device and the second playback device.

  • Publication number: 20240249740
Abstract: Systems and methods for noise reduction using synthetic audio are disclosed. One or more playback devices include first microphone(s) (e.g., air-conduction microphone(s)) and second microphone(s) (e.g., bone-conduction microphone(s)). In operation, based on a user voice input, first and sound data streams are captured via the first and second microphone(s), respectively. The first sound data stream is evaluated to determine whether a noise threshold is exceeded. While the noise threshold is not exceeded, a synthetic sound data model is trained based on the first and second sound data streams. An audio output stream based on the first sound data stream is communicated to at least one second playback device. When noise is detected in the first sound data stream, a synthetic audio stream is mixed into the output audio stream. The synthetic audio stream can be produced based on the synthetic sound data model.

  • Publication number: 20240088693
Abstract: The media playback system comprises a first playback device with an energy storage having a maximum storage capacity. The media playback system sets a target charge level for the first energy storage to a first maximum charge threshold, wherein the first charge threshold is less than the maximum storage capacity (e.g., 20% of the maximum storage capacity). In response to identifying an event associated with a user, the media playback system adjusts the target charge level for the first energy storage to a second maximum charge threshold, wherein the second charge threshold is based on a duration of the first event. Subsequently, the media playback system receives power from a first power source to charge the first energy storage to the second maximum charge threshold. After the first event ends, the media playback system adjusts the target charge level for the first energy storage to the first maximum charge threshold.

  • Publication number: 20210385579
Abstract: An example video communication device is configured to (i) receive, from a computing platform via a wide area network (WAN), video and audio content corresponding to a video call, (ii) render the video content via at least one graphical display and render the audio content via at least one speaker, (iii) while rendering the video and audio content, determine that a user of the video communication device is located more closely to an audio playback device than to the video communication device, where the audio playback device is connected to the video communication device via a local area network (LAN), and (iv) based on determining that the user is located more closely to the audio playback device than to the video communication device, transmit the received audio content to the audio playback device via the LAN and cause the audio playback device to play back the audio content.
