  • Patent number: 9186289
Abstract: An electromagnetic anti-tipping device uses electromagnets to steady users and prevent falls by persons with impaired mobility and balance. The device's steadying effect is accomplished by magnetically attracting the legs and/or wheels of balance and mobility assisting apparatus (“balance and mobility aid(s)”) to a stationary surface such as a floor which is made of or covered with a magnetically responsive material. In one embodiment, the device's electromagnet attraction to the floor or other stationary surface is actuated when the operator of the device triggers the device's mechanism or sensor by grip or touch. Once actuated, and until deactivation by the user, the device's electromagnet(s) secure the legs or wheels of the balance and mobility aid to the magnetically responsive floor or other stationary surface. The electromagnets are battery-powered.

  • Publication number: 20070136462
Abstract: A method for displaying an image which can include a text or graphic message on a display driven by an electronic device that includes a graphical user interface, including the steps of storing the image at an electronic device, displaying the image in relation to a cursor icon of the graphical user interface (GUI), and moving the image as the cursor icon moves in response to user commanded movement of the cursor icon so that the image stays in relation to the cursor icon. A system and method for facilitating interactive communication between a cursor icon on a display screen of an electronic device and an image transmitted to the electronic device by an application program. A system and method that receives and manages notification alerts containing notification data from a variety of resources, and generates and distributes interactive notifications to a variety of recipients.

  • Publication number: 20060118313
Abstract: The present invention relates to a grading device adapted for easy and quick connection to a pulling machine, such as a tractor or dozer, utilizing two points of attachment provided by the pulling machine. The grading device has two main blades, each with an extendable blade to increase the contouring range. Each main blade is separated by an intermediate pivoting member, which enables independent movement of each blade. Accordingly, the device can crown or v-notch a loose surface in a single pass. Additionally, a remotely located joystick assembly enables control of the blades from an ergonomic position on the pulling machine.

  • Publication number: 20050179002
Abstract: The present invention provides a wall for a package, which wall comprises, or includes a layer comprising, a composition comprising a polymer and capable of scavenging oxygen through the metal-catalysed oxidation of an oxidisable organic component thereof. The oxidisable organic component is preferably itself a polymer, and may be the only polymer in the composition. Preferred compositions include a blend of 96% polyethylene terephthalate and 4% poly (m-xylyleneadipamide) containing 200 ppm cobalt as catalyst, with good permeance-versus-time performance (3) when formed into a bottle.
