  • Patent number: 4685255
Abstract: A work space management system for dividing a room into separate work areas comprising a wall system having a rigid framework formed of rigid rectangular frames rigidly joined together at the edges thereof to form at least one work area, wire management elements secured to the frames for communication and power wiring and a plurality of modular panels removably hanging on the frames. At least some of the wire management elements are secured to the bottom or baseline of the frames and at least some of the wire management elements are removably secured to a waistline or midportion of at least some of the frames. In some cases, the frames only extend to a waist height and in other cases, the frames extend to a full panel height. The panels are sized to fit between the waistline wire management elements and the baseline wire management elements to substantially cover the frames therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4618192
Abstract: A cabinet (10) is adapted to be supported by vertical slotted standards (28) and comprises a top wall (12), a bottom wall (14), two identical side walls (16), a back wall (18) and a plurality of brackets (70) secured to the rearward edges (68) of the side walls (16) and adapted to engage the slots (32) of the vertical standards (28) and thereby hang the cabinet (10) therefrom. An extruded member (20) is secured to the back wall (18) and forms a plurality of vertically disposed horizontal hanger rails (22) having indentations (54) forming lips (46). Work accessories, such as a pair of bookends (24) and a variety of organizers such as trays (26), are removably mounted on the rails (22) through hooks (38) which rest on the lips (46) and in the indentations (54) of the rails (22).

  • Patent number: 4571907
Abstract: A frame connector system for connecting adjacent frames together to form a wall panel system for offices, for example, comprises rigid frames which have elongated stiles extending the length of opposite sides, each stile having an edge face with an indented channel running along the length and shaped to form a hollow rectangular channel with an abutting edge face of an adjacent frame stile. A rectangular elongated draw tube fits snugly within the rectangular channel between the stiles. A U-shaped draw nut on top of the draw tube has legs which fit within openings in the stiles and engage wedging surfaces on the stiles to draw the stiles tightly together as the draw tube is moved upwardly with respect to the stiles. A cap screw is threaded into the draw nut and engages tongues on the stile to provide a mechanical advantage in shifting the draw tube upwardly with respect to the stiles.

  • Patent number: 4433884
Abstract: A modular laboratory furniture system includes freestanding tubular frame modules (22) and freestanding table (36) arranged about a room in a preplanned configuration. The system further includes mobile carts (40) movable about the room. The frame modules (22) and tables (36) each mount a horizontal work surface (50). Pairs of spaced-apart common support means (38) mount the work surfaces (50) and also are used to construct the carts (40). The common support means (38) includes a hollow vertical leg (56, 58), a bracket member (52, 54) and means for securing one portion of the leg (56, 58) to the bracket member (52, 54). The base portion (92) of the bracket member (52, 54) has a perimeter which mates with that of the leg (56, 58). Detachably secured to the legs (56, 58) of the spaced-apart support means (38) are rails (60, 61). The rails (60, 61) support at least one storage component on the frame module ( 22), table (36) and carts (40).

  • Patent number: 4067631
Abstract: An organizing system is disclosed which is mountable under a horizontally positioned work surface such as a desk top. The organizing system includes a pair of generally rectangular frames hingedly connected to the vertical side support members of the desk top. Various storage modules are supported by a housing arrangement slidably positioned on the hinged frame. The arrangement is pivotable to a closed position underneath the work surface which permits unrestricted lateral movement of the user. When the hinged frames are pivoted outwardly and the housings are fully extended, the storage modules are readily available for use.

  • Patent number: 4043626
Abstract: A power track system for conveying and distributing electrical energy in a movable office unit having free standing walls. The system includes a plurality of track sections, each of which has a passageway in which an electrical cable is disposed. Connectors, joined to the cable, are secured at each end of the track section so that similar track sections can be connected together. The track sections are positioned on the floor under the free standing walls which secure the track sections in their positions. Outlets are provided at predetermined points along the track sections to enable connection of electrically operated devices to the cable.
