  • Patent number: 8118998
Abstract: A combination full flow media and bypass media filter cartridge for filtering fluid in an internal combustion engine. The apparatus includes a venturi filter having a full flow media attached to and extending between a first endplate and a second endplate. The second endplate includes an orifice. The apparatus further includes a stack of disks extending between a compression end and a venturi end. The stack of disks has a flow path defined by a plurality of openings wherein each disk includes at least one opening. The flow path extends between the compression end and the venturi end. The venturi end is substantially adjacent the second endplate of the venturi filter. The apparatus further comprises resilient compression member connected to the venturi filter for maintaining a minimum sealing force on the stack of disks.

  • Patent number: 7967152
Abstract: An apparatus, system and method to facilitate fluid flow across a filter. The apparatus includes a filtration layer coupled to a support layer to form a composite filter. The support layer includes a hydroentangled cellulosic material forming a plurality of apertures. The apertures form channels to facilitate fluid flow across the filter while the support layer provides structural support to the filtration layer to enable lateral flow while preventing pleat deformation and collapse.

  • Publication number: 20080122143
Abstract: An apparatus, system and method to maximize ultrafine meltblown fiber attenuation. The nozzle apparatus includes a polymer streaming channel, at least one gas delivery channel, a restricted throat area, and a bounded expansion area. In some embodiments, the nozzle comprises a two-dimensional converging-diverging Laval nozzle geometry. The gas delivery channels may provide the gas under a pressure exceeding critical pressure, such that the gas achieves supersonic speeds at the restricted throat area. The bounded expansion area may stabilize such supersonic speeds, thus maximizing ultrafine meltblown fiber attenuation while minimizing the formation of fly and other defects.
