  • Publication number: 20110027888
Abstract: A coated fiber for cell culture includes a fiber core having an exterior surface and a polymeric coating suitable for culturing cells disposed on at least a portion of the exterior surface of the fiber core. A polypeptide may be conjugated to the polymeric coating. A method for forming the coated fiber includes coating a polymer layer to an exterior surface of a fiber core to produce the coated fiber. The coating may occur as the fiber is being drawn.

  • Patent number: 7118872
Abstract: Binding polypeptides comprising specific amino acid sequences are disclosed that bind B Lymphocyte Stimulator (BLyS) protein or BLyS-like polypeptides. The binding polypeptides can be used in methods of the invention for detecting or isolating BLyS protein or BLyS-like polypeptides in solutions or mixtures, such as blood, tissue samples, or conditioned media.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 17, 2001
Date of Patent: October 10, 2006
    Assignee: Dyax Corp.
Inventors: James P. Beltzer, Marilou Potter, legal representative, Tony J. Fleming, Robert Charles Ladner, M. Daniel Potter, deceased
  • Patent number: 6984373
Abstract: The present invention provides binding moieties for fibrin which have a variety of uses wherever detecting, isolating or localizing fibrin, and particularly fibrin as opposed to fibrinogen, is advantageous. Particularly disclosed are synthetic, isolated polypeptides capable of binding fibrin and recognizing the form of polymerized fibrin found in thrombi. In addition, the polypeptides have a slow dissociation rate from fibrin, which improves their ability to form a contrast image at the site of a fibrin clot, making the disclosed binding moieties particularly useful as imaging agents for thrombi.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 21, 2001
Date of Patent: January 10, 2006
    Assignee: Dyax Corp.
Inventors: Charles R. Wescott, James P. Beltzer, Aaron K. Sato

  • Publication number: 20030091565
Abstract: Binding polypeptides that specifically bind BLyS protein or BLyS-like polypeptides can be used in methods of the invention for detecting, diagnosing, or prognosing a disease or disorder associated with aberrant BLyS or BLyS receptor expression or inappropriate function of BLyS or BLyS receptor, comprising BLyS binding polypeptides or fragments or variants thereof, that specifically bind to BLyS. The present invention further relates to methods and compositions for preventing, treating or ameliorating a disease or disorder associated with aberrant BLyS or BLyS receptor expression or inappropriate BLyS function or BLyS receptor function, comprising administering to an animal, preferably a human, an effective amount of one or more BLyS binding polypeptides or fragments or variants thereof, that specifically bind to BLyS.
