  • Patent number: 5739183
Abstract: A method of stabilizing an aqueous solution of an acid copolymer of maleic acid and a C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl vinyl ether against degradation in viscosity or molecular weight upon storage for an extended period of time in aqueous solution at ambient conditions, with a single stabilizing agent, which comprises forming the acid copolymer directly from a slurry of corresponding anhydride in an organic solvent by hydrolysis in water, and adding including ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA), or salt thereof, as the single stabilizing agent to the solution either before or after hydrolysis.

  • Patent number: 5653965
Abstract: Stable, water-based formulations containing high levels of water insoluble UV protectants/insecticides are provided herein as sprayable microemulsions containing a film-forming polymer, e.g. Agrimer.RTM. VEMA ES 425 [poly(methyl vinyl ether-maleic acid monobutyl ester)]. The polymers are solubilized either by partial neutralization with a base, or by emulsification with appropriate emulsifiers. These formulations produce single phase, micro- or mini-emulsions (particle size<1 micron) on dilution with water. The formulations are useful as UV protectants in veterinary use, for protection of UV-labile insecticides, and for "pour on" applications.

  • Patent number: 4974161
Abstract: A portable, hand-held bowling data processor or scoring device which can be kept for up to five persons for various games of bowling. Scores are entered into the device using numeric and function keys, processed by an electronic chip, and displayed in a standard bowling line score format on a display. The device also contains two memories and associated processing logic to provide score analysis for all bowlers during a session of bowling and a more detailed historical analysis for the principal bowler. Provision is also made for an accessory strip printer to create a hard copy of the display.
