  • Patent number: 7981499
Abstract: Microlens sheetings with composite images are disclosed, in which the composite image floats above or below the sheeting, or both. The composite image may be two-dimensional or three-dimensional. Methods for providing such an imaged sheeting are also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 11, 2005
Date of Patent: July 19, 2011
    Assignee: 3M Innovative Properties Company
Inventors: James P. Endle, Robert T. Krasa, William V. Dower, Michael W. Dolezal
  • Publication number: 20100103527
Abstract: Microlens sheetings with different types of composite images are disclosed, in which the composite image floats above, in, or below the sheeting, or some combination. One type of composite image may be viewable to the unaided eye or an observer and another type of composite image is viewable only to the aided eye of an observer. Methods for providing such an imaged sheeting are also disclosed.
    Type: Application
    Filed: October 23, 2008
    Publication date: April 29, 2010
Inventors: James P. Endle, Lynn E. Lorimor

  • Publication number: 20080160185
Abstract: A method for forming a color shifting film on a support, the film comprising a reflective stack disposed adjacent to the support and an image is disclosed. The reflective stack comprises an at least partially transparent spacer layer comprising a substituted acrylamide polymer disposed between a partially reflective first layer and a reflective second layer. The acrylamide layer has a thickness sufficient to produce an interference color.

  • Publication number: 20040118349
Abstract: An organizing fixture provides space for a number of frame carriers used for releasable mounting of a number of filament-positioning frames. Each filament-positioning frame holds a filamentary coil and a plurality of filaments formed into a parallel array of filaments, extending from the filamentary coil. A frame carrier includes a divider wall on which filament-positioning frames may be mounted so that parallel arrays of filaments extend over the upper edge of each divider wall. Organizing fixtures accommodate several layers of frame carriers that produce a stack of divider walls having gaps between layers through which filament ends protrude in a suitable position for application of condensable materials using vacuum deposition techniques.
