  • Patent number: 5307960
Abstract: A safety dispenser suitable for dispensing a jet of material the active ingredient of which can incapacitate an attacker, having a rugged unitary housing defining a trigger finger access opening and an opening through which said jet may issue, a container for housing the material under pressure, being captively housed within the housing and being closed by a manually operable valve spring biased into a closed position, a valve cap attached to the valve and carrying a nozzle for emission of a jet of the material upon operation of the valve by application of pressure by a trigger finger of a user extending through the finger opening, the orientation of the nozzle being restrained such that a jet when emitted will pass through the jet emitting opening.

  • Patent number: 4550861
Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing a dye and a lachrymator in a stream, comprising a housing defining a closed cavity, a bore extending from the cavity to the exterior of the housing, a spool valve defining a longitudinal axis, disposed in the bore and moveable between open and closed positions, the spool valve being operable from the exterior of the housing and a nozzle extending from the bore to the exterior of the housing, the spool valve with the bore defining a chamber with which the nozzle communicates, the spool valve sealingly engaging the bore, when in the closed position, on both sides of the chamber, to exclude communication between the chamber and the cavity and, when in the open position, permitting communication of the chamber with the cavity whereby when a lachrymator under pressure is present in the interior of the housing, the lachrymator will pass through said chamber to and through the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 3946159
Abstract: A communication system that uses a separate single coaxial cable to link a nurse's station to each of a plurality of patient rooms is disclosed. Each cable carries DC message signals from the patient rooms to the nurse's station to alert the nurse on duty that her assistance is needed either on an emergency or on a non-emergency basis. The coaxial cables also carry AC power to power TV receivers located in the patient rooms. In addition, the coaxial cables carry normal video signals to the receiver; audio and visual communication signals between patients and the nurses station; and, telemetry from patient sensors to the nurses station. Further, the system is adapted to automatically allow a patient to view the nurse at the nurses station on the TV receiver located in the patient's room when the patient is communicating with the nurse regardless of whether or not the TV receiver was on or off at the time such communication commences.
