  • Patent number: 4484116
Abstract: A prime mover adapted for selective energization across a power source. The prime mover has a winding circuit, a rotatable assembly, and an electrical switch including a housing, a first pair of switch means adapted for connection in circuit relation with the winding circuit, and a second pair of switch means adapted for connection between opposite sides of the power source. A pair of camming means is movable in the housing for engaging and actuating the first and second switch means pair and has a force receiving portion exteriorly of the housing. A speed responsive system is associated with the rotatable assembly and the force receiving portion for moving the camming means to effect the operation of the first and second switch means pairs.

  • Patent number: 4426770
Abstract: A method of assembling a switch and terminal assembly and mounting it to a dynamoelectric machine. In this method, a grounding device is associated with an enclosed casing from exteriorly thereof so as to expose a ground connection section of the grounding device beyond a wall of the enclosed casing generally in row formation with electrical connection sections of terminals supported in the wall. Mounting means are interconnected between the switch and terminal assembly and the dynamoelectric machine to effect the mounting thereto of the switch and terminal assembly, and the mounting means is coupled in ground circuit relation with the grounding device and an electrically conductive structural component of the dynamoelectric machine.

  • Patent number: 4294004
Abstract: A method of assembling a switch and terminal assembly. In this method, a plurality of terminals are disposed with electrical connection sections thereof exposed beyond a casing of the assembly and aligned generally in row formation. A ground connection section of a grounding device is disposed in the row formation with the electrical connection sections and a mounting section of the grounding device is associated in displacement preventing engagement with the casing.A prime mover is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4243967
Abstract: A thermostat adapted to regulate the temperature of a given space. The thermostat has a temperature setting lever movable between a plurality of temperature settings within a pair of temperature ranges and also a mode selecting lever movable between a heating position, an off position and a cooling position. Means respectively associated with the temperature setting lever and the mode selecting lever is provided to effect the movement of the mode selecting lever from one of the heating position and cooling position thereof through its off position to the other of the heating position and cooling position thereof in response to the movement of the temperature setting lever from one of its temperature settings of the plurality thereof within one of the temperature ranges toward another of its temperature settings within the other of the temperature ranges.A method of operating a thermostat is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4160885
Abstract: An electrical switch has a housing with a plurality of switch means movable therein for operation between circuit controlling positions. Means is movable in the housing for engaging each switch means of the switch means plurality to effect the operation thereof from one of the circuit controlling positions toward another of the circuit controlling positions, respectively. The engaging and actuating means include means interiorly of the housing for camming at least two switch means of the switch means plurality so as to effect the operation of the at least two switch means from the one circuit controlling positions toward the another circuit controlling position thereof.

  • Patent number: 4095073
Abstract: A switch and terminal assembly adapted to be mounted to a prime mover, such as a dynamoelectric machine or the like. The switch and terminal assembly includes a casing having a plurality of wall means, and a plurality of terminals is provided in the casing having electrical connection sections extending exteriorly of the casing generally in row formation along one of the wall means thereof. A ground terminal is mounted to the casing exteriorly thereof on another of the wall means thereof and has an electrical connection section extending over at least a part of the one wall means so as to be disposed generally in the row formation with at least some of the electrical connection sections of the at least some terminals.

  • Patent number: 4042860
Abstract: A combination starter-protector device for a winding circuit of a dynamoelectric machine. The device has a housing with at least one terminal therein adapted for connection with a power source, and means is provided in the housing for controlling starting of the dynamoelectric machine. Means is mounted to the housing for electrical contact and positioning engagement with the starting controlling means and adapted for connection in circuit relation with the winding circuit. Another circuit is provided between the engagement means and the at least one terminal for supplying power to the winding circuit when the engagement means is connected in circuit relation therewith, and the other circuit includes means in the housing and operable generally in response to a certain thermal condition occasioned upon winding circuit overload for interrupting the other circuit.Other combination starter-protector devices are also disclosed.
