Abstract: Bis(1-hydrocarbyloxy-2,2,6,6-tetraalkylpiperidin-4-yl) malonate or malonamide derivatives of 1,3,5-triazine corresponding to the formula ##STR1## are effective light stabilizers in a wide variety of substrate systems.

Abstract: Compounds containing both a UV-absorbing moiety and a 1-hydrocarbyloxy hindered amine moiety are effective stabilizers for protecting polymer compositions against the deleterious effects of actinic light. The UV-absorbing moieties include the substituted 2H-benzotriazoles, s-triazines, acrylates, benzophenones, oxanilides and oxamides.

Abstract: N-Hydrocarbyloxy derivatives of phosphorus substituted 4-amino- and 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine are effective light stabilizers for polymer compositions. These phosphorus compounds include phosphites and cyclic phosphites such as 1,3,2-dioxaphospholanes, 1,3,2-dioxaphosphorinanes, 1,3,2-oxazaphospholidines, 1,3,2-diazaphospholidines, 1,3,2-dioxaphosphocins, 1,3,2-dioxaphosphepins and 2,4,8,10-tertraoxa-3,9-diphosphaspiro[5,5]-undecanes.

Abstract: N-Hydrocarbyloxy derivatives of poly(2,2,6,6-tetraalkylpiperidin-4-yl) -1,3,5-triazines corresponding to the formulae I, II or III ##STR1## wherein T is ##STR2## are effective light stabilizers in a wide variety of substrate systems.

Abstract: N-hydrocarbyloxy compounds of the formula ##STR1## where E.sub.1, E.sub.2, E.sub.3 and E.sub.4 are independently an organic radical so that the carbon atoms to which they are attached are each a quaternary carbon, R is a hydrocarbon radical and T is a divalent radical are prepared directly by the reaction of the corresponding amine or oxyl compound in a hydrocarbon organic solvent with a hydroperoxide in the presence of a metal carbonyl, metal oxide or metal alkoxide catalyst in high yield and purity. These compounds are useful as light stabilizers in diverse substrate systems.
