  • Patent number: 6923185
Abstract: A method is provided of forming a cervical cap in situ, i.e., within a patient's body, which cap will substantially completely conform to the shape of the patient's cervix, allowing the cap to be left in place over an extended period of time. The method of the invention includes the steps of positioning a snugly fitting rim member around the patient's exocervix, mounting a shell member, having an aperture, onto the rim member such that the rim member, shell member and exocervix define a cavity, and injecting a curable material through the aperture to substantially fill the cavity. After the curable material is allowed to harden, the entire assembly is removed from the patient and the shell removed from the cured material.

  • Patent number: 5624472
Abstract: Magnesium oxychloride cement bonds are improved by incorporation of graphite. The graphite not only contributes to cooler dry grinding with abrasive tools based on the magnesium oxychloride bond, but unexpectedly also improves heat strength of the bond.

  • Patent number: 4961436
Abstract: A cervical cap for covering a portion of the cervix uteri in order to prevent migration of sperm from the vagina into the cervical canal to thereby prevent conception. The cervical cap has an open end portion, a dome-shaped portion, preferably sealed, disposed opposite the open end portion, and a ridged section designed to grip the cervix to secure the cap. In the preferred embodiments, the ridged section has a plurality of substantially parallel ring-shaped ridges formed on the interior surface of the cap. In an alternate embodiment, a helical-shaped ridge is formed on the interior surface of the cap and extends from the rim to the dome portion, progressively narrowing in width.

  • Patent number: 4087938
Abstract: Trees, such as fruit bearing trees in drought-stricken areas, are individually watered to conserve the water supply while saving the valuable trees. A radially slotted tub-like irrigator engages around the tree trunk and delivers water in a controlled manner to both the tap roots and the peripheral root network of the tree. No water is wasted and the time span for irrigation can be adjusted. The device is characterized by simplicity and economy of manufacturing and ease of installation.
