Patent number: 5684488Abstract: A speed detection signal sensor system for use with a vehicle. The system includes a signal sensing device positioned in a housing assembly. The housing assembly includes a reflective portion such as a mirror. The sensing device is positioned between the reflective portion and the housing. A sensor is positioned relative to the housing assembly and the reflective portion for sensing a speed detection signal which is directed towards the vehicle either from a forward position or a rearward position relative to the vehicle. A signal sensing indicator may be positioned relative to the housing assembly and generally in the reflective portion. Alternatively, the signal sensing indicator may be positioned externally of the housing assembly for attachment in a convenient location. To provide protection against lead frame failure as a result of vibration and thermal stresses encountered in the engine environment, residual stress cracking caused by varying flexure of the lead frame during the manufacturing process is prevented by utilizing a pre-mold base in which the lead frame is placed prior to subsequent encapsulating of both the lead frame and the pre-molded base. Patent number: 4633521Abstract: A remote radar detector head has a front control unit portion and a rear mounting surface portion which is thinner than the front head portion. The mounting surface portion extends rearwardly of the front head portion and extends downwardly or upwardly at an angle relative to the front head portion depending upon whether the detector head is in a first or inverted second mounting position. At a front panel of the front head portion, first and second escutcheons are provided with indicia inscribed thereon. In the first mounting position the first escutcheon is utilized while in the second or inverse mounting position the second escutcheon is employed with the indicia in reverse location thereon. Patent number: 4588938Abstract: A battery charger for supplying charging current to the rechargeable battery of a portable battery powered device includes a one-piece housing and removable bottom plate. A first portion of the housing includes a receptacle for receiving the device. Upon insertion of the device into the receptacle electric contacts projecting from the bottom wall of the receptacle are biased by a spring acting against the bottom plate into electrical contact with the device to establish electrical communication between the device and charging circuitry within the housing. A first portion of the circuitry is contained within the first portion of the housing to provide mode indications and switch means user-actuable through an aperture in the bottom wall of the receptacle. The speaker units have pins projecting therefrom which serve to mount the speaker units in the vicinity of the wearer's ears by penetration of the pins through an article of clothing on the wearer in the vicinity of his ears. A corresponding clip engages the pin after penetration of the clothing. The pins are electrically connected to the speaker and a cable from the personal electronic unit connects to these pins via the engagement clips. A rear wall of the encasement has a pocket with a thin wall at a base thereof. A ring-shaped magnet is positioned within the pocket with a flat major surface alongside the thin wall. A mounting member is mounted through a central aperture of the magnet to provide alternative mounting for the microphone. The magnet is positioned between a metal plate and the thin wall. A lip surrounding the pocket retains the plate and magnet therein. The microphone may be conveniently attached by magnetic attraction to any nearby surface or preferably to a cup-shaped metal mounting plate.
