  • Patent number: 5170020
Abstract: A vertical exhaust pipe having an inner pipe with an upper opening. An outer pipe is positioned around the inner pipe and has an end portion that extends beyond the upper opening in the inner pipe, said end portion defining an outlet through which exhaust gas exits the outer pipe. A mechanism is coupled with the inner pipe for blocking rain that has entered the outer pipe from falling through the opening in the inner pipe. A ledge mechanism is positioned beneath the upper opening in the inner pipe and between the inner and outer pipes for forming a chamber within which is held rainwater that has entered the outer pipe. A drainage mechanism allows rainwater in the chamber to pass to the exterior of the outer pipe.

  • Patent number: 4506447
Abstract: A center distance tool comprising a mounting block defining an open ended chamber, an indicator bar fixably mounted to another mounting block perpendicular to the chamber. A gauge bar slidably maintained longitudinally to said indicator bar, the gauge bar having a generally L-shaped configuration. A script plate mounted to gauge bar for visual read out of center distance.

  • Patent number: 4362524
Abstract: A brake mechanism particularly suited for snowmobile applications wherein an engine drives a primary clutch which is in belted communication with a secondary clutch mounted to secondary clutch shaft, the secondary clutch shaft has a brake disc fixably mounted thereon and has a radial extension into a brake carrier. The brake carrier is slidable on a chain housing having a pair of brake plates including brake pads suspended between opposing carrier walls. By causing one brake pad to contact one side of the brake disc, the carrier housing is moved to bring the other brake pad into contact with the other side of the brake disc.

  • Patent number: 4252354
Abstract: An improved connection between the two steering posts and the steering skis at the forward end of a snowmobile which includes for each post and each ski a downwardly convexed leaf spring connected at its front and rear ends to the ski and bracket structure that connects the intermediate portion of the spring to the post. The bracket structure includes a pair of brackets, one of which is connected to a forward portion of the spring and the other of which is connected to a rearward portion of the spring so as to have a relatively long length of spring between the two portions. The two brackets have vertical walls that are disposed side-by-side and extend upwardly to be connected to a horizontal trunnion mounted or fixed to the lower end of the post.

  • Patent number: 4202429
Abstract: A snowmobile drive train includes a chain case which supports one end of a drive shaft and includes a flange which surrounds a brake disc carried by the drive shaft. The chain case is provided with a three-sided pocket which extends radially inwardly toward the shaft from an entrance located in the periphery of the chain case. The pocket opens toward the brake disc and shaped similarly thereto and releasably retained therein is a brake puck carrier. A stationary brake puck is received in the radially inner end of the carrier and is supported for being withdrawn therewith through the entrance of the pocket. Fasteners for releasably retaining the carrier also connect a brake actuator to the chain case, the actuator including a movable brake puck for engaging the brake disc and moving the latter into engagement with the stationary puck.
