  • Publication number: 20130053247
Abstract: This disclosure concerns the control of movement of a pesticide through soil. In some embodiments, the use of solid, large-diameter particles comprising a pesticide leads to reduced leaching of the compound from, or increased persistence of the compound in, a target area to which the compound is applied.

  • Patent number: 6468787
Abstract: A method for photoeluting photocleavable linker-attached chemical compounds, and an apparatus suitable for implementing the method, are disclosed. According to the method, photocleavable linker-attached library compounds are photoeluted from solid support media under conditions of controlled light exposure and controlled temperature. An apparatus suitable for carrying out the present photoelution method includes means for substantially evenly illuminating the photocleavable linker, means for controlling illumination time and intensity, and means for controlling sample temperature.

  • Patent number: 5821524
Abstract: An apparatus for electronically reading tubular members, such as cylindrical vials, marked with electronically readable encoded information is disclosed. The apparatus is in the form of a jig having a receiving means adapted to receive an electronic identification means, such as a pen-type bar code reader therein. A receptacle within the jig is adapted to receive a tubular member therein and to allow rotation of the tubular member. An electronic identification means may be placed within the receiving means to read information encoded on the tubular member when placed within the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 5056573
Abstract: A pneumatic tire, particularly for tractors or other like vehicles, having a tread portion containing alternating, spaced-apart medium and long lugs proceeding axially inward from a lateral tread edge, and an identical (but opposite in hand) set of long and medium lugs proceeding axially inward from the other lateral tread edge and offset circumferentially so that a long lug emanating from one lateral edge is opposite a medium lug emanating from the other lateral edge. The lugs have bar portions which are smoothly curved axially inward from the tread edge in the direction of intended tire rotation and bulbous head portions transitioned into the bar portions axially inward thereof, to provide excellent traction and wear characteristics while minimizing vibration.

  • Patent number: 4702358
Abstract: Clutch-brake steering systems are known to operate on track vehicles which are highly reliable and cost effective, but lacked the fine degree of controllability found in the more expensive differential steering. An electronically controlled clutch-brake steering control apparatus provides control signals to electrohydraulic proportional valves for accurately modulating the control pressures of a set of steering clutches and brakes. A pair of sensors deliver signals, which are indicative of track speed, to the control apparatus. The apparatus acts to adaptively adjust selected ones of the valves to maintain a desired track speed differential. Thus, the controllability of the clutch-brake steering system is enhanced to effectively compete with more expensive and complex systems.

  • Patent number: 4250794
Abstract: A high pressure hydraulic system, including a bidirectional fluid motor having two ports, a pair of normally closed, pilot operated poppet valves, each connected to an associated port, a fluid reservoir, a flow sensor having a flow path interconnecting each of the poppet valves and the reservoir and having an output for providing a signal representing the flow rate, along the flow path, a pair of metering valves each connected to the pilot of an associated poppet valve for controlling the flow of fluid through the associated poppet valve, control signal inputs for each of the metering valves, and flow rate signal inputs connected to the output of the flow sensor for each of the metering valves so that each poppet valve is ultimately controlled by both control signals and the flow rate through the flow sensor.

  • Patent number: 4076329
Abstract: A brake modulation valve includes a spool reciprocable in a body to provide application and release of the brakes of a vehicle through movement of a pedal, the movement of the pedal providing application of the brakes being resisted by resilient means in the form of primary, secondary and tertiary springs brought into play in series fashion so that the operator of the pedal is aware of varying pedal feel during application of the brakes.

  • Patent number: 4072087
Abstract: A digital positioner for remote actuation of a control valve includes a double-acting actuating piston connected to the control valve and a plurality of fluid-responsive stop means disposed to either side of the actuating piston. A plurality of remotely controlled pilot valves are operatively connected to respectively control the actuating piston and selected ones of the stop means. The system is especially adapted for remotely controlling hydraulic systems having a control valve for modulated control of the system for different speeds of the system.
