  • Patent number: 4122424
Abstract: An electrical coil having a bobbin including a central core and a pair of spaced parallel flanges extending from the core with a coil of fine wire wound upon the central core is disclosed herein. One of the flanges has a terminal block which supports connections between the respective ends of the fine wire and terminal leads that extend away from the coil. Each connection consists of a tubular member that has an enlarged head engaging one surface of the terminal block with the terminal block having an enlarged opening surrounding the tubular member and the free end of the fine wire is connected to the enlarged head. The terminal lead wire can be connected directly into the tubular member or be connected through a sleeve that can be telescoped over the tubular member. The tubular member may also be used as a plug-in arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4105985
Abstract: An electrical coil including a flanged bobbin having a coil of wire wound thereon is disclosed herein. The bobbin has a terminal block secured to one flange which supports a pair of terminal leads. The terminal block also has a separate peg element for each terminal lead and the peg elements as well as the ends of the wire are respectively soldered to the terminal leads to secure the ends of the wire to the respective leads and securely retain the terminal leads on the block.

  • Patent number: 4028654
Abstract: A battery charger or voltage-reducing power pack is disclosed herein. A molded bobbin, which forms part of the power pack has a mounting head which has elongated slots that receive plug-in prongs with cooperating means between the mounting head and the prongs to prevent endwise movement of the prongs with respect to the slots after insertion therein. The mounting head and base plate have unique interlocking means that cover the exposed edges of the slots to retain the prongs in the slots and also has sturdy interlocking formations to rigidly hold the bobbin with respect to the base plate after assembly.

  • Patent number: 3932828
Abstract: A plastic bobbin for the coil is formed with a terminal-receiving block extending out from the bobbin axially from one bobbin flange. The bobbin is wound with a coil the end wires of which are temporarily secured in slits in the edge of a bobbin flange. Terminal tubes which are in the form of eyelet-blanks, each having one end headed, are inserted through the block so that the unheaded end projects from the block into planar alignment with the coil. A tongue is cut axially from the end of each tube and bent back to form a hook. The end wires are slipped under the hooks and welded. Lead wires are inserted into the eyelets which are crimped upon the lead wires to secure the lead wires and make a good connection. A quick-setting cement is applied between the lead wires and the block, into which they extend. The bobbin, and the portion of the block in planar alignment with it are then encapsulated with plastic.
