  • Patent number: 8794886
Abstract: A cargo tie down includes a retainer and a shackle. The retainer includes a barrel having a proximal end and a distal end and a flange extending radially outward from the proximal end of the barrel. The shackle includes an arcuate portion merging into a distal end of a first leg and a distal end of a second leg and a necking portion extending between a coupling end and an interface end. A hinge including a pin extends through the shackle and the distal end of the barrel. A proximal end of the first leg and a proximal end of the second leg are separated by a first width. The coupling end spans the first width and joins the proximal end of the first leg to the proximal end of the second leg. The width of the necking portion decreases as it extends from the coupling end to the interface end.
