  • Patent number: 8219413
Abstract: An identification system and method for medication management comprises a controller, a drug library accessible by the controller, the drug library containing drug library profiles including a data set of drug information, and an identification module configured to read patient identification information from machine-readable identification devices worn by patients and to read drug information from machine-readable identification devices affixed to drugs or containers of drugs. The controller compares the read information to each other and to the drug library profile and provides alerts or error signals in the event of an inconsistency. In one case, identification devices are read by an optical reader fixedly mounted to the identification module. In another case, identification devices are read by an optical reader that is hand-held and mobile and can be moved to the location of the identification device. The hand-held reader communicates with the identification module by wired or wireless means.

  • Patent number: 6526363
Abstract: A system for calibrating a sperm quality analyzer (SQA) is provided. An optical shutter is inserted into an optical chamber within the SQA. A playback circuit coupled to the optical shutter stores pre-recorded sample waveforms and applies the pre-recorded waveforms to the optical shutter to produce contrast variations in the optical shutter that mimic the random motion of live samples.

  • Patent number: 4759070
Abstract: A programmable patient controlled master hearing aid is disclosed which consists of a hearing aid test module, an operator's console and a patient's console, both of which are microprocessor based, and all of which are interconnected to provide a testing apparatus which is used by the patient to select electronic components to be imployed in a hearing aid. The testing device has selectable electronic components that match the components which will be used in the hearing aid which the patient selects as best assisting or addressing the patient's hearing loss. The patient is located in the center of a sound field created by multiple speakers which accurately reproduce both pre-recorded environmental background sounds and pre-recorded or live "target-stimuli" such as speech. Thus surrounded by a simulation of real-world listening situations, the patient initially selects a hearing aid shell assembly which comfortably fits in the patient's ear.

  • Patent number: 4701750
Abstract: A motorcycle sound simulator for non-motorized vehicles is disclosed having a sensor (16) to detect motion of a wheel (18) and transmit electrical signals to a control unit (12). The control unit, through its microprocessor, produces a firing period (520) which includes a pulse train burst (522) and silence (524) which are respectively altered in length to produce motorcycle-like sounds. Other motorcycle attributes such as shifting gears (514), acceleration (508), deceleration (512), misfire (516), and failure to start (504) are provided and audio output is generated with audible tones corresponding to a motorcycle-type sound.
