  • Publication number: 20080186202
Abstract: One example embodiment provides a method and system where a node in a utility network assigns an IP network address to an in-premise device which communicates to the utility node over an in-premise network which is not IP based. The utility node proxies the assigned IP address to the utility network, allowing other nodes on the utility network to address and communicate with the in-premise device.

  • Publication number: 20080186203
Abstract: One example embodiment provides a method and system where LAN nodes in an IPv6 utility network are able to communicate with an IPv6 node through and IPv4 network. An access point associated with an IPv6 LAN in the utility network establishes an explicit or configured tunnel to an IPv6 node or and IPv6 network through and IPv4 network. In one preferred embodiment the IPv6 node is a back office system communicating through an IPv4 WAN with the IPv6 node in the utility network LAN using the access point in the LAN. The access point communicates with the back office system through the IPv4 WAN to establish a “6 in 4” tunnel through the IPv4 WAN. A tunnel broker may maintain the “6 in 4” tunnel through the IPv4 WAN between the access point and the back office system.

  • Publication number: 20080187001
Abstract: One example embodiment provides a method and system where a node in an IPv6 utility network communicates with an IPv6 destination node through and IPv4 network. IPv6 utility nodes are reachable through at least one access point. IPv6 packets to be transmitted between an IPv6 access point an and an IPv6 destination node through a IPv4 communications network are encapsulated in IPv4 packets for transmission through the IPv4 communications network. Packets received after transmission through the IPv4 communications network at the destination node are extracted to retrieve the IPv6 packet.

  • Publication number: 20080189436
Abstract: One example embodiment provides a method and system where a node in a utility network registers with one or more access point devices associated with one or more local area utility networks. The utility node generates a unique network address using a network address prefix of a network address associated with the access point device. The utility node registers with a DNS server. Messages sent to the utility node are routed through the access point corresponding to the received prefix used to generate the unique network address for the utility node. The network address for the utility node and access point may be IPv6 addresses and the network address prefix may be an IPv6 prefix, or may be an IPv4 address.

  • Publication number: 20080020627
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for monitoring an electrical flat wire. An appropriate safety device is utilized to monitor the electrical flat wire. The safety device includes a line side input configured to connect a line side power source and receive an electrical power signal from the line side power source. Additionally, the safety device includes a flat wire connection configured to connect to an electrical flat wire. The safety device further includes at least one relay configured to control the communication of the electrical power signal onto the electrical flat wire. The safety device also includes a control unit configured to test the electrical flat wire for at least one of miswires, wire faults, or abnormal conditions and, based at least in part on the results of the testing, to control the actuation of the at least one relay.

  • Publication number: 20070257813
Abstract: A method and/or a system of a secure network bootstrap of devices in an automatic meter reading network is disclosed. A method of a network interface card in an automatic meter reading network includes generating a derived security key based on a secret key embedded in a network interface card and a provided security key of a device management server of the automatic meter reading network. The method also includes communicating the derived security key and a challenge data of a challenge-response pair of the device management server to a metering device and generating a response data through processing a reply data of the metering device reacting to the challenge data. In addition, the method includes communicating the response data to the device management server to authenticate the network interface card and/or the metering device.

  • Publication number: 20050146531
Abstract: A paint color matching and coordinating system comprises an interface for receiving an input reference color, a processor capable of reading a memory, a memory including (1) instructions readable by the processor and (2) a database of architectural paint colors spanning all or most of the known color space, and a display generator. In use, the interface of the system receives an input reference color from a user. The processor selects a “reference paint color” from the database, the reference paint color being visually closer, with respect to color space, to the input reference color than any other paint color in the database. According to the invention, color space is divided into a plurality of fixed, generally equally sized, non-overlapping, contiguous portions, each color space portion being defined as the space of all colors within a band of hues within color space.

  • Patent number: 6126201
Abstract: A folder for holding a compact disc in a position for binding the folder into a magazine is made from a single web of cardstock. The web is folded into two equal portions along a central foldline to form two opposing front and rear panels of the folder. A circular section is cut out of the front panel to display the condition of a compact disc held in the folder. The two panels are glued together to capture the compact disc therebetween and a line of weakening is applied to the panels along one marginal edge thereof to define a combined binding and tear strip. This strip may be edge bound in a magazine and the line of weakening is spaced apart from the edge so that the folder may be separated from the magazine along the tear strip.
