    Abstract: A method for placing a document into a document family, the method including the steps of: determining at least one score associated with one or more document families, each score indicating a level of similarity between the document and the associated document family; in response to identifying at least one threshold document family, the or each threshold document family corresponding to a document family with at least one associated score meeting a predefined threshold: placing the document into the, or one of the, threshold document families; in response to identifying that each score fails to meet a predefined threshold: creating a new document family; and placing the document into the new document family.
