    Abstract: A futon includes a support mechanism for a pivotally interconnected back frame and seat frame which includes left and right linkage subassemblies attached to the left and right end members of the futon main frame to cause the back and seat frames to shift from a couch positioning to a bed positioning and vice versa, each linkage subassembly including an arm mounting plate attached to an adjacent end member of the main frame, a seat link pivotally connected to the arm mounting plate and the seat frame, and upper and lower back links pivotally connected between the arm mounting plate and the back frame.
