  • Patent number: 4453614
Abstract: In an articulated combine, front and rear bogies are connected by spaced-apart upper and lower links. The upper link permits relative lateral movement between the bogies due to oscillation about a longitudinal axis. At the lower link, a rigid tongue of the rear bogie is connected to the front bogie by a ball hitch. Steering of the vehicle is through a pair of hydraulic cylinders controlled in part by a feedback cylinder. The steering cylinders are connected together to the rear bogie, at a common ball joint. All other connections of the hydraulic cylinders are ball and socket type and their effective pivot centers define respective transverse (kneel) and longitudinal (oscillation) axes, intersecting at the ball hitch. Forward connections of the steering cylinders and one end of the feedback cylinder lie on the kneel axis. The common rearward steering cylinder connection and the connection of the other end of the feedback cylinder lie on the oscillation axis.

  • Patent number: 4428182
Abstract: In an articulated combine, the hinge arrangement connecting the front and rear bogies consists of spaced-apart upper and lower links. The lower link construction provides for oscillation between the bogies as well as establishing a steering pivot center. The upper link normally lies in a fore-and-aft plane and is pivotally connected between rearward upper portions of the respective bogies, thus spanning the length of the rear bogie. The hinge arrangement also provides part of the structure for a conveyor for conveying clean grain between the front and rear bogies. In one embodiment, the upper link comprises an auger tube into which clean grain is introduced by a clean grain elevator and cross auger. In another embodiment, the lower link assembly does double duty as an auger conveyor housing.

  • Patent number: 4394004
Abstract: Disclosed are carpet stretching tools comprising a pair of laterally extending and parallel barbed bars including a lead-bar and a trail-bar, guide means permitting longitudinal movement between the barbed bars while maintaining them in parallelism, and force application means to forceably controllably move the carpet engageable barbed bars into proximity. Preferably, the guide means takes the form of slidably engaged collar and shank, and the force application means includes a longitudinally extending threaded stud firmly attached to one barbed bar and movably surrounded by the other barbed bar, and further includes a controllable handle. Loftily disposed guide shank and force application threaded stud might provide the sole connection between barbed bars to permit ancillary manual operations to be performed therebelow. The barbed bars might be of selectable lateral length appropriate to certain carpet stretching tasks.

  • Patent number: 4215508
Abstract: An apparatus and method for fumigating stored agricultural commodities such as grain and the like, includes an applicator for porous envelopes or sachets of prepackaged pesticides of the type which react with moisture in the air and produce a toxic gas. The applicator comprises an elongate strip constructed of a flexible, porous, non-hygroscopic material. The strip has two plies which are arranged in an overlying relationship and are interconnected along a side edge thereof, and includes a plurality of seams which extend laterally across the strip and regularly interconnect the plies, and form pockets shaped for receiving the prepackaged pesticide sachets therein. The seams form a flexible hinge between adjacent pockets and interconnect the same to facilitate folding. A sachet is inserted into each pocket, the pocket is closed, and the filled applicator is deployed onto the free surface of an aggregation of stored commodity and arranged in a flat and fully extended position thereover.

  • Patent number: 4191308
Abstract: A tablet dispenser for fumigating agricultural commodities, such as grain, animal feed, and the like, comprises a container shaped to receive a plurality of pesticide tablets therein, and including a base with a dispenser aperture therethrough. A rotor is rotatively mounted in the container base, and includes an upper portion, a medial portion, and a lower portion. The medial portion of the rotor is spaced apart from the container sidewall, and forms an annularly shaped channel therebetween which is proportioned to receive therein a single file ring of the pesticide tablets, each oriented on a circumferential edge thereof. The lower portion of the rotor extends outwardly of the medial portion to form a base surface of the channel on which the tablets are supported, and includes a dispensing aperture therethrough positioned for selective alignment with the container base aperture.
