  • Publication number: 20090105633
Abstract: A kit and method for causing tissue death within a tissue site is disclosed. The kit includes a media with a light activated drug activatable upon exposure to a particular level of ultrasound energy. The kit also includes an ultrasound transducer that is configured to transmit the level of ultrasound energy which activates the light activated drug with sufficient power that the ultrasound energy can penetrate the tissue site. The method includes providing the media comprising a light activated drug, delivering the media systematically into a patient's body, providing sufficient time for the light activated drug to localize within the tissue site, and directing ultrasound energy to the light activated drug within the tissue site to thereby activate the light activated drug.

  • Patent number: 6985206
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for detecting the speed and/or location of a moving object within a target area are disclosed. A pitch speed measurement and strike zone detection apparatus in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention may include a support frame configured to support a pair of reflective surfaces on either side of a target area. A light source and receiver configured to direct a light beam back and forth between the reflective surfaces can be used to form a light curtain that detects when an object passes through a particular location within the target area. Multiple light sources and receivers may be employed to measure the speed of the object, and to determine whether the object passes through a particular strike zone. The device may include an adjustment mechanism and self-alignment laser to reposition the reflective surfaces, as necessary.

  • Patent number: 6704845
Abstract: A snoop filter in a multi-processor system maintains a plurality of entries, each representing a cache line that may be owned by one or more nodes. When replacement of one of the entries is required, the snoop filter selects for replacement the entry representing the cache line or lines owned by the fewest nodes, as determined from a presence vector in each of the entries. A temporal or other type of algorithm is used to refine the selection if more than one cache line is owned by the fewest number of nodes.

  • Patent number: 6675263
Abstract: In general, the PBVT structure provides an effective method of filtering a stream of hardware generated prefetches by eliminating prefetch addresses that have proven to be inaccurate in the past. When compared to a design that uses a PFB of equal number of entries, the PBVT along with a small PFB provides virtually equivalent prefetch accuracy and miss rate reduction while using much less hardware area (97% less data storage space for a 1024-entry PFB case).
