  • Patent number: 5577745
Abstract: A hand dolly or personal material handling system is provided having a removable reel holder which can be loaded with reels of wire in an extended position, or retracted. The handling system is adapted to carry attachments, including a long stock holder for carrying pipe or electrical conduit, a cable spindle for carrying a reel of coaxial cable, a utility basket, and reel supports for carrying different sized reels of wire or cable. Different configurations of attachments are used depending on the carrying requirements of the handling system.

  • Patent number: 4058396
Abstract: Lead is recovered from batteries by contacting comminuted batteries with a molten alkali metal salt, reducing lead compounds to lead, separating molten lead from the molten salt, and transferring the molten salt and char to a combustion zone, where the salt is reheated to the desired temperature and recycled for contacting with the batteries. A portion of the alkali metal salt is withdrawn and purified, so as to maintain a relatively constant composition of the alkali metal salt.

  • Patent number: 4017271
Abstract: A process for the production of a synthesis gas, capable of being upgraded to a high BTU pipeline gas, by the partial oxidation and substantially complete gasification of a carbonaceous material under CO-promoting conditions wherein the carbonaceous material, oxygen, and recycled carbon dioxide from the process are introduced into a molten salt containing an alkali metal carbonate and a minor portion of an alkali metal sulfide, the system being operated at a selected temperature and pressure between 1400.degree. and 2000.degree. F and between 1 and 100 atmospheres. The molar ratio of carbon dioxide to oxygen employed is controlled at from about 0.6:1 to about 1.2:1 to control the CO production and also to maintain the molten salt at a desired operating temperature. Sulfur and ash introduced with the fuel are retained in the molten salt.
