  • Patent number: 9249617
Abstract: Described is an animal door that is movable between a closed position and an open position and that has an adjustable resistance against the door being removed from the closed position to the open position. More specifically, the animal door defines a passageway and includes a flap that is moveable between the closed position and the open position, whereby the flap obstructs the passageway when at the closed position. The animal door generates a magnetic force that generates a resistance against the flap being moved from the closed position to the open position, whereby magnitude of the magnetic force, and thus the resistance, is adjustable.

  • Patent number: 8434264
Abstract: Described is an animal door for enabling an animal to pass through a structure and for having an adjustable height. More specifically, the animal door is capable of being installed at the structure at multiple orientations, whereby the orientation at which the animal door is installed governs the height of the door. Additionally, the animal door is removably installed at the structure such that the orientation, and thus the height, of the door is adjustable.

  • Patent number: 7921811
Abstract: Described is an electronic pet door for automatically granting a selected animal access to a through-way defined by the electronic pet door and denying a non-selected animal access to the through-way. The selected animal carries a transmitter. The electronic pet door includes a corresponding receiver and a frame that defines the through-way, which has a tapered contour. A flap, which has a tapered contour corresponding to the through-way, is disposed within the through-way and is capable of a locked position and an unlocked position. When in the locked position, the flap denies access to the through-way. When unlocked, the flap grants an animal access to the through-way. The flap is locked and unlocked by way of a locking mechanism that shifts the flap longitudinally between the less tapered and most tapered portions of the through-way. The locking mechanism shifts the flap in response to the receiver.

  • Patent number: 7621815
Abstract: A clutch is provided for releasably coupling an axially rotatable driving shaft to a coaxial driven shaft. The clutch comprises a gear, having a plurality of cogs, coaxially secured to one of said driving shaft or said driven shaft; and a receptor coaxially secured to the other of said driving shaft or said driven shaft. The receptor comprises a hub and a plurality of flexible extension segments defining a cavity matingly engaging the gear cogs. When the driven shaft encounters rotational resistance greater than a range of normal operation, the extension segments flex out of engagement with the gear cogs to allow rotation of the driving shaft without rotation of the driven shaft.
