  • Publication number: 20230255840
Abstract: A wheelchair lift for a passenger vehicle such as a passenger bus, a motorcoach, or a class A motorhome. The wheelchair lift includes a housing having sidewalls and a plurality if bearings and a carriage supporting one or more of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components. A lift assembly is coupled to the carriage and includes a first rail and a second rail supported by the plurality of bearings. A first scissor leg assembly is coupled to the first rail and a second scissor leg assembly is coupled to the second rail, wherein each of the first scissor leg assembly and the second scissor leg assembly move between an expanded and a collapsed condition. A platform is coupled to the first the second scissor leg assemblies, wherein movement of the first scissor leg assembly and second scissor leg assembly between the expanded and collapsed condition adjusts a position of the platform.

The wheelchair lift includes a housing having sidewalls and a plurality of bearings and a carriage supporting one or more of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components. A lift assembly, coupled to the housing, includes a first and second scissor leg assembly couples to a platform. First and second handrail assemblies are respectively coupled to first and second sidewalls of the platform. The first handrail assembly includes a lower handrail shield coupled to a first handrail, and an upper handrail shield rotatably coupled to the lower handrail shield and moveable between a lowered position and a raised position, wherein the upper handrail shield in the lowered position is moveable with the lower handrail shield between a storage location and a boundary location.

  • Patent number: 6398479
Abstract: A wheelchair lifting platform for transporting a wheelchair passenger into and out of the rear door of a vehicle such as a van. The platform may be folded and stowed beneath the floor of the van behind the rear axle. The platform further includes rollstops pivotally coupled to the ends of the platform and adapted to automatically deploy when the platform is unfolded. A pivoting housing cover is also included that is adapted to open upon deployment of the platform and close upon stowage of the platform in its housing beneath the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6065924
Abstract: Improvement in wheelchair lifts generally of the dual hydraulic parallelogram type employing a lever arm assembly which assists in the rotation of the platform from the stowed position to the horizontal deployed position, by providing a gas spring disposed in the lever arm assembly connected at an outboard end to the lifting mechanism link and at an inboard end to at least one of the A arm, the B arm or the common pivot pin of the lever arm assembly. The outward force of the gas spring causes the sliding shoe of the lever arm assembly to maintain contact with the outer face of the lower link of the lifting parallelogram so that upon deployment of the lift during the gravity down phase from stowed position to horizontal transfer position, the inboard end of the platform is pulled up so that it rotates smoothly and is not subjected to free fall.
