Publication number: 20240080778Abstract: An enhanced network environment is provided by configuring an indoor access point device in a region subject to AFC constraints to utilize the 6 GHz frequency band. The access point device requires configuration so as not to interfere with incumbent 6 GHz wireless infrastructures or systems. The configuring includes obtaining location information using Wi-Fi Location functionality to obtain one or more associated range measurements so as to determine an accurate access point device location. This location can then be sent as part of an AFC request message to an AFS management system to obtain a power allowance. Once configured, the access point device can be registered with the AFC resource and can operate at a power allowance that can be higher than the power allowance associated with the standard power or low power indoor.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 27, 2023Publication date: March 7, 2024Inventors: Jay W. STRATER, Gregory N. NAKANISHI, Kurt A. LUMBATIS, James R. FLESCH

Patent number: 11917420Abstract: An enhanced network environment is provided by provisioning a device to utilize the 6 GHz frequency band. The device requires provisioning so as not to interfere with legacy systems. The provisioning requires that the two-dimensional location of the device be obtained and sent to a topographical mapping network resource to obtain an accurate ground location for the terrain. The elevation is then modified based on an actual height from ground level of the device. The location of the device can then be sent to an automated frequency controller (AFC) resource to obtain an equivalent isotropically radiated power mask that can be used to provision the device so that the device can operate in the 6 GHz frequency band without causing interference with any other systems. Once provisioned, the device can be registered with the AFC resource.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2021Date of Patent: February 27, 2024Assignee: ARRIS ENTERPRISES LLCInventor: James R. Flesch

Patent number: 11910204Abstract: An enhanced network environment is provided by provisioning a device to utilize the 6 GHz frequency band. The device requires provisioning so as not to interfere with legacy systems. The provisioning includes obtaining exterior multiple fixed power measurements to obtain a virtualized location and a virtualized power level. The elevation is then modified based on an actual height from ground level of the device. The location of the device and a virtualized equivalent isotropically radiated power (EIRP) can then be sent to an automated frequency controller (AFC) resource to obtain an EIRP mask that can be used to provision the device so that the device can operate in the 6 GHz frequency band without causing interference with any other systems. Once provisioned, the device can be registered with the AFC resource.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2021Date of Patent: February 20, 2024Assignee: ARRIS ENTERPRISES LLCInventor: James R. Flesch

Publication number: 20230275843Abstract: Systems and methods for relaying a plurality of data packets to and from a subscriber over an access network that imparts a variable latency of one packet relative to other packets. The latency of each packet is controlled so as to increase the average latency experienced by the plurality of packets and decrease the variance of the respective latencies experienced by each of the packets.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 9, 2023Publication date: August 31, 2023Applicant: ARRIS Enterprises LLCInventors: Ayham AL-BANNA, James R. FLESCH, Charles CHEEVERS, James M. MOSS, Thomas J. CLOONAN, David Franklin BARAN

Publication number: 20220400530Abstract: A network device comprises a memory, a radio system, a control line, and a processor. The radio system can be controllably configured to operate in a first channel state or a second channel state. The first channel state enables transmission of first client device reception data on a first channel and reception of first client device transmission data on the first channel. The second channel state enables transmission of second client device reception data on a second channel and reception of second client device transmission data on the second channel. The control line is arranged to provide a control signal to the radio system so as to place the radio system in either the first channel state or the second channel state.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 3, 2022Publication date: December 15, 2022Inventors: Ian G. WHEELOCK, Charles Peter CHEEVERS, James R. FLESCH

The radio system can operate in a first channel state or a second channel state. The first channel state enables transmission of first client device reception data on a first channel, reception of first client device transmission data on the first channel, and reception of second client device transmission data on a second channel. The second channel state enables transmission of second client device reception data on the second channel, reception of second client device transmission data on the second channel, and reception of first client device transmission data on the first channel. The processor determines a portion of time for which the radio system should be configured to operate in the first channel state.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 20, 2022Publication date: December 15, 2022Inventors: James R.
