    Abstract: This invention discloses a modified rosin soap which is an ammonia-neutralized esterification product of a Diels-Alder adduct of a monomeric rosin and an alpha, beta-unsaturated carboxylic compound. The use of the modified rosin as an emulsifier and/or a stabilizer in the preparation of an acrylic latex and the use of the acrylic latex in ink formulations are also disclosed.
