  • Patent number: 4760216
Abstract: A method for making an electrical bushing having an enlarged intermediate portion and reduced portions at opposite ends. The method is characterized by the steps of mounting an annular flange around one of the reduced portions to form a peripheral gutter adjacent to the one portion, mounting a cap on the other of the reduced portions to form a peripheral gutter adjacent to the other portion, placing a solid solder ring in each gutter, and with the open sides of the gutters upright, heating the solder rings to a molten temperature and cooling the molten solder to below its melting temperature in order to provide a joint between the flange and the one portion and the cap and the other portion.

  • Patent number: 4354830
Abstract: An apparatus for supporting ceramic insulator greenware including container means for supporting the ceramic insulator greenware in a first position and integral spacing means integrally connected with the container means for supporting the container means in a second position. One embodiment of the invention supports the ceramic insulator greenware such that the lower flange of the weather shed of the ceramic insulator greenware is supported above the apparatus so as not to interfere with the glazing coat. Refractory fire brick normally used for spacing and the labor involved in placing and leveling the fire brick/support arrangement is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4348176
Abstract: Apparatus for supporting an insulator or a plurality of insulators having a support means for supporting the insulators at a predetermined position and an integral spacing means integrally connected to the support means for supporting another support means to provide for stacking of a plurality of apparatus. The support means includes a base having a plurality of recesses therein for receiving a mounting portion of a typical insulator and supporting it in a predetermined position. The spacing means includes integral supports projecting upward a predetermined distance from the periphery of the base and an external peripheral wall enclosed upon itself extending upward a second predetermined distance from the periphery of the base, the first and second predetermined distances being selected to provide for adequate ventilation of the insulators. Being self-supporting the apparatus eliminates secondary support materials that are normally required.

  • Patent number: 4038491
Abstract: A fluid, filled, resinous casting composition, having a viscosity below about 20,000 cp. at 100.degree. C, is made from liquid resin, resin curing agent, and as high as 85 weight percent of a glassy filler comprising about 50 to about 60 weight percent of SiO.sub.2, about 12 to about 22 weight percent of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, about 5 to about 15 weight percent of B.sub.2 O.sub.3, about 4 to about 14 weight percent of MgO and about 2.5 to about 12.5 weight percent of CaO.

  • Patent number: 4016359
Abstract: An insulating bushing assembly for use with electrical apparatus and adapted to be installed through an aperture in a wall thereof, characterized by an electrically insulating bushing extending through an aperture in the wall and sealed in place by an elastic gasket between the bushing and the wall on one side thereof, the bushing having an annular groove on the other side of the wall and a garter spring disposed in the groove and having a smaller portion thereof extending beyond the groove and in contact with the other side of the wall, whereby the elastic gasket is retained in fluid-tight compression between the bushing and the wall.

  • Patent number: 3936592
Abstract: An electrical bushing for a distribution transformer characterized by a pair of tubular insulating members having oppositely disposed facing surfaces engageable with opposite sides of a transformer housing wall, a conductor extending through the members and having first and second planar terminal surfaces, the conductor having an outturned flange near the first planar terminal surface which flange is engageable with one of the tubular insulating members, the conductor also having a threaded portion adjacent the second planar terminal surface, a nut engageable on the threaded portion and abuttable with the end of the other tubular insulating member, and the nut comprising aperture means including a threaded portion engageable with said threaded segment and comprising a slot portion extending outwardly from the threaded portion and adapted to enable passing of the second planar terminal surface therethrough.
