    Abstract: A pressure relief valve for an air gun limits the maximum muzzle velocity of the gun without losing an excessive amount of pressure. The valve includes a valve housing which is provided with an intake orifice, a chamber, and a discharge orifice. A check valve in the chamber normally closes the intake orifice. The intake orifice communicates with the pressure reservoir of the gun, and, when excessive pressure builds up within the pressure reservoir, the check valve opens to relieve the excess pressure.
