  • Patent number: 7423990
Abstract: A method and apparatus for dynamic data rate adjustment of a wireless transport channel include processing that begins with one of a plurality of client modules within a wireless multimedia system monitors channel characteristics of a wireless transport channel. The monitoring is done at or below a received packet rate to determine variations in the channel characteristics on a packet-by-packet basis or on a group-of-packets by group-of packets basis. The processing continues when the client module determines whether the variations in the channel characteristics affect the data rate of data contained in the packets received via the wireless transport channel. When the variations in the channel characteristics affect the data rate, the client module provides data rate adjustment feedback to a multimedia server of the wireless multimedia system via the wireless transport channel.

  • Patent number: 7085315
Abstract: A method and apparatus for digital demodulation for use in a wireless communication device include processing that begins by performing a fast Fourier transform to convert a plurality of time domain symbol components representing inbound data into a plurality of frequency domain symbol components. The processing continues by frequency domain equalizing at least some of the plurality of frequency domain symbol components based on a dynamic compensation control signal to dynamically compensate for adverse transmission characteristics of the plurality of time domain symbol components. The processing then continues by generating a plurality of estimated symbols and a plurality of error values for the plurality of compensated frequency domain symbol components.

  • Publication number: 20040165074
Abstract: A method is described which better aligns the spatially dependent resolution of a sampled image sensor to the resolution requirements of an image. Most images contain greater frequency extent in the horizontal and vertical directions and therefore can benefit from higher resolution. By rotating the sampling grid of a sampled imaging sensor relative to the sampling area it is possible to better align the spatial components of the sensor which possess the highest resolution with the components of the image with the highest frequency content.

  • Patent number: 6157632
Abstract: The present invention provides a method/protocol (400, 800) and device (600; 700) for transmitting a synchronous stream of information, in a wireless, centrally controlled communication system. The method includes the steps of parsing the synchronous stream of information into a plurality of predetermined fixed sized blocks and transmitting/retransmitting each fixed size block in a predetermined window of time until one of: reception of each fixed size block is positively acknowledged and each corresponding predetermined window of time has elapsed.

  • Patent number: 5926503
Abstract: A mobile station (104) in a DS-CDMA communication system (100) has receiver diversity. A first antenna (130) receives signals over a communications channel (101) from a base station (102). A second antenna (132) receives signals which are delayed in a delay element (142) by one or more chip times and combined in a summer (148) with signals from the first antenna. The combined signals are presented to a RAKE receiver (112) for decoding and demodulation. When discernible multipath energy is present to the point where much of the received signal energy is not accounted for in the assigned RAKE receiver fingers, the second antenna is switched out to avoid increasing the level of interference.
