  • Publication number: 20190188281
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention includes a method of managing data items based on context, where markers are associated with the data items, where the markers indicate states of authors of the data items when the data items were created. The markers can be associated with the data items by a processor. A query for a data item can be received from a user via an interface, where the query can include one or more markers indicative of the state of an author of the data item when the data item was created. The results of the query can be displayed, where the results of the query can include data items that are associated with the marker(s).

  • Publication number: 20190180511
Abstract: A region of interest is determined by a location and an orientation of a device, wherein the region of interest is proximate to the device. A set of locations of items of interest is determined with respect to the region of interest. A background and a first set of representations against the background is presented on the device display according to the location and orientation of the device. Each representation is of a respective item of interest located in the region of interest. The region of interest is adjusted with a pinch gesture on the background, however, the presenting of the background does not change in response to the pinch gesture. Instead, the set of locations of one or more items of interest is determined with respect to the adjusted region of interest, and a second set of representations is presented against the background. Each representation of a respective item of interest is located in the adjusted region of interest.

  • Publication number: 20190180507
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program for presenting locations of individuals in an interface are described. A region of interest is determined by a location and an orientation of a portable device in an environment. The region of interest is a cone of interest radiating away from the location of the portable device in a direction of orientation of the portable device. A set of locations of one or more individuals of interest with respect to the cone of interest in the environment is determined. An orienting background and a first set of representations against the orienting background are presented in an interface on the display. Each representation is of a respective individual of interest in the cone of interest. The interface is presented according to the location and orientation of the display. The orienting background contains a positional cue of a landmark of the environment which the portable device is oriented toward.

  • Publication number: 20190121355
Abstract: Using an imaging device of a user device associated with a public user, an image of an autonomous vehicle (AV) operating in an area is captured. The public user associated with the user device is other than an occupant or controller of the AV. Image processing of the image is performed to extract a set of visual characteristics of the AV. A visual characteristic in the set of visual characteristics is insufficient to uniquely identify the AV. From a set of AVs a subset of candidate AVs is selected where each candidate AV in the subset of candidate AVs matches within a tolerance at least one visual characteristic in the set of visual characteristics, the subset of candidate AVs including the AV. A stop command is sent to the AV, causing the AV to execute a stopping operation resulting in a change in a velocity of the AV.

  • Patent number: 10259452
Abstract: A method generates and implements a real-time amelioration action for ameliorating an imminent collision between a self-driving vehicle (SDV) and an object. One or more processors detect that an imminent collision by a self-driving vehicle (SDV) is imminent with a confidence C1, and determine whether the SDV has an occupant of occupant type P with a confidence C2. One or more processors identify an object with which the imminent collision by the SDV is imminent with a confidence C3, and then generate and implement, based on C1, C2, C3, and P, a real-time amelioration action for ameliorating the imminent collision between the SDV and the object.
