  • Patent number: 9420836
Abstract: Finger extensions for astronaut gloves for astronaut suits are disposed in sleeves on digits of the gloves. Different embodiments for the extensions are illustrated and discussed. The sleeves are secured to the tops of the digits. The extension elements include bases disposed in the sleeves and tips at outer ends of the bases. The tips may include pads which contact elements desired to be manipulated. The extensions are pivotal with the movement of the astronaut's digits in a glove. Only a slight movement of the astronaut's digits is required to provide the required dexterity for the astronaut user to grasp, pick up, move, etc., desired elements with the extensions. Inflexible rings about the extensions are fixed to the gloves prevent reverse bending of the extensions and maintain the extensions generally parallel to the users fingers. The extensions may be fixed or extendable and retractable, as desired.

  • Patent number: 6000347
Abstract: Bullet resistant apparatus includes a spring biased panel which extends out one end of the briefcase. The briefcase, with the extended panel, is then rotated ninety degrees to define a bullet resistant shield for a user. The apparatus is made of composite bullet resistant materials and utilizes a compression spring for deployment of a panel disposed within the briefcase. The compression spring is disposed in a pair of telescoping sleeves. The sleeves allow the spring to compress and then to extend to about double its compressed length.

  • Patent number: 5811719
Abstract: Removable bulletproof apparatus for a vehicle includes a flexible curtain secured to a door of the vehicle. The flexible curtain is secured to a frame below a window in the door. The curtain is bullet resistant. The curtain may be easily installed and easily removed from the door. The curtain is made of layers of fibrous material, such as woven cloth, preferably of an aramid fiber, such as a "Kevlar" cloth, or "SPECTRA SHIELD" material. A bullet resistant flap of the same material as the curtain pivots on the curtain.

  • Patent number: 5703316
Abstract: Bullet resistant curtain apparatus protects the rear of a vehicle. The curtain apparatus includes a curtain secured to the trunk lid of the vehicle and is deployed when the trunk lid is opened. The curtain apparatus includes a flexible curtain made of a plurality of bullet resistant cloth layers. The curtain folds as the trunk closes. A second embodiment includes a movable base with posts to which the curtain may be secured to comprise a portable shield. The base includes wheels for moving the portable shield. The curtain is removably secured to the trunk lid and is thus easily converted into the movable, portable shield.

  • Patent number: 5413026
Abstract: Removable bullet resistant apparatus for a vehicle includes a transparent panel which is secured to or disposed adjacent to a vehicle window and a flexible curtain is secured to a bracket to which the bottom portion of the transparent panel is secured. Both the transparent panel and the curtain are bullet resistant. Both the panel and the curtain are easily installed and easily removed from their common bracket and from the vehicle. Depending on the particular design or structure of a vehicle in which the apparatus is installed, various top bracket structures may be used. The curtain is made of layers of fibrous material. In one embodiment, as for example, for use by law enforcement vehicles, the curtain includes a bottom flap or portion that may be pivoted down when the door is opened to provide an officer with essentially a full length bullet resistant shield. The full length shield includes both the transparent panel and the curtain and its flap.
