  • Patent number: 4719024
Abstract: The invention relates to methylalkylcyclosiloxanes wherein each silicon atom in the siloxane ring has a methyl attached and each siloxane ring has at least two different non-methyl alkyl groups. The methylalkylcyclosiloxanes display a wide range of viscosity and thermal stability.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 5, 1986
Date of Patent: January 12, 1988
    Assignee: Dow Corning Corporation
Inventors: John L. Speier, James R. Malek
  • Patent number: 4259103
Abstract: What is disclosed is a method of reducing microorganisms by contacting the microorganisms with the surface of a substrate which has been altered by contacting a substrate which develops a negative charge in water with a substance that ionizes in water to form cations and anions, which cations absorb to the substrate by a process of ion exchange in which protons are replaced by the cations of the ionizing substance. The altered surfaces can include hospital sheeting, clothing and a wide variety of surfaces which come into contact with microorganisms.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 14, 1979
Date of Patent: March 31, 1981
    Assignee: Dow Corning Corporation
Inventors: James R. Malek, John L. Speier
  • Patent number: 4088669
Abstract: Organosilicon compounds bearing silicon-bonded hydrocarbon radicals and silicon-bonded hydrocarbonoxy radicals are obtained by contacting activated silicon, a hydrocarbon ether and a halogen-containing catalyst in a closed system at elevated temperature. Silanes and siloxanes, particularly methylmethoxysilanes, may be prepared and used to prepare valuable silicone materials.
