  • Patent number: 7299743
Abstract: This invention combines several processes into on easy to use product. The glass sphere dramatically enhances the aeration procedure by gently exposing air to thin waves of wine as wine passes over the surface of the sphere. The integrated filter provides a larger surface than normally found in wine filtration devices. The supporting structure secures the decanter in such a way that consumers can easily dispense wine without handling a wine bottle or conventional decanter.

  • Patent number: 6673372
Abstract: The potent reverse transcriptase inhibitor Efavirenz is produced in crystalline form. Crystalline Efavirenz exists in several physical forms which are-designated Forms 1, 2, 3 and 4, and are characterized by x-ray powder diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry. Pharmaceutical compositions and methods are useful for the treatment of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

  • Publication number: 20030142484
Abstract: A single backplane for a housing is provided. A plurality of sockets is disposed on a first side of the backplane, where each of the sockets is adapted to receive a repeater. A connector is disposed on a second side of the backplane and is electrically connected to each of the sockets by conductive traces disposed within the backplane. The connector is adapted to plug into a mating connector for connecting each of the plurality of sockets to input and output transmission lines.

  • Publication number: 20030088456
Abstract: System and process for managing an IT infrastructure which collects transaction information on a component basis. The transaction data is used to evaluate the contribution of each component of the system as well as the business value of the service, and for the infrastructure as a whole. The usage data is prepared as reports and used in an IT management workflow model to make decisions about such things as the timing of system upgrades, strategic architectural decisions, timing of sunsetting of service components, both hardware and software, and the return-on-investment (ROI) valuation of IT investments. Component values may be assessed on either a volume (number of transactions) basis, or on the discrete dollar value of the transactions supported by the component.

  • Patent number: 5773790
Abstract: A method of forming and inspecting beam drilled holes, and in particular laser beam drilled holes, in an article, such as a turbine blade or vane airfoil, with a hollow interior. The method includes (a) filling the hollow interior with a beam blocking material having fluorescent material, (b) beam drilling the holes in the wall through to the hollow interior, and (c) inspecting the hole under an ultraviolet light. The beam blocking material preferably includes a wax material and step (a) includes filling the hollow interior with a melted mixture of the wax and fluorescent materials. The wax material may be a pattern wax material suitable for use in making turbine blade investment casting molds and the fluorescent material may be a fluorescent penetrant.

  • Patent number: 5673451
Abstract: A toothbrush adapted to serve as an instructional aid to encourage toothbrushing and to reinforce recommended toothbrushing technique. The toothbrush includes a body having an electrical subassembly incorporating a visual indicator such as a light or a light emitting diode, and a switching unit within the electrical subassembly for selectively activating the visual indicator only when the toothbrush is being used according to recommended toothbrushing technique. An alternate embodiment of the toothbrush includes a separate toothbrush head insert and a separate handle for receiving the toothbrush head insert which can therefore be removed and replaced. A further alternate embodiment of the invention includes an aural indicator selectively activated by the electrical subassembly during recommended toothbrushing technique.

  • Patent number: 4759721
Abstract: A press-fit electrical connector has a compliant portion formed of two, opposed, T shaped segments. The facing legs of the segments are offset from one another and their interior surfaces do not make contact when the segments are compressed by insertion into a hole.

  • Patent number: 4449354
Abstract: A direct current electromagnetic disc type tension control which has alternating current superimposed on the direct current circuit to allow the electromagnet to vibrate the tension discs in order to break the contact between the tension discs and between the tension discs and the electromagnet to lower the resistance to rotation of the discs.

  • Patent number: 4449355
Abstract: A direct current electromagnetic disc type tension control which has alternating current superimposed on the direct current circuit to allow the electromagnet to vibrate the tension discs in order to break the contact between the tension discs and between the tension discs and the electromagnet to lower the resistance to rotation of the discs by the yarn passing therethrough. The direct current electromagnetic tension control is an electromagnetic disc type tension control in which the yarn guiding post is slotted off-center between the discs so that the yarn being tensioned is received between the discs and exerts a torsional force on the tension discs to cause the tension discs to rotate in order to enhance the dissipation and self-cleaning of the yarn finish accummulated therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4268964
Abstract: Handle means provides a frame on which a cutter head may be supported spaced from a hand grip whereby, when the user is standing, the cutter head may be positioned adjacent the ground. The cutter head is a rotatable head including attachment means for attaching at least one flexible flail which extends outward when rotated. The drive means may be electrical or other motor means preferably mounted proximate to the cutter head, but including versions mounted remotely but having an extended flexible shaft enabling drive of the cutter head attached to the rotatable shaft. A circular shield is rotatably supported on the shaft, so that it is independent of the shaft's rotation, preferably outboard of the cutter head. The cutter head provides attachment means which may simply be a hole associated with and opposed to a post or hook, whereby a loop or bight of filamentary material may be placed over the hook or post and the filamentary material extended through the hole which is radially outboard of the motor shaft.
