In an embodiment of the invention, the sifting litter box comprises two litter box trays oriented at a right angle with a screen placed in between the trays. Rotating the sifting litter box ninety degrees allows unused litter to sift through the screen while trapping clumped litter. The clumped litter can be discarded by removing the screen.
