Publication number: 20240071609Abstract: An infusion pump configured to automatically determine whether to receive an update comprises a battery, a processor, communication engine, a memory, and a clock. The processor is configured to receive power from the battery. The communication is in communication with the processor and configured to communicate with a remote location. The memory is in communication with the processor and stores instructions. When executed by the processor, the instructions configure the processor to wake the processor from an off state, determine that the infusion pump is receiving electrical power from the battery, and determine whether the battery contains sufficient energy to complete an update to the infusion pump. In response to determining that the battery contains sufficient energy, the instructions further configure the processor to wake the communication engine from an off to determine whether the update is available to be acquired from the remote location.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 21, 2023Publication date: February 29, 2024Inventors: Mark C. Rohlwing, Michael Niemotka, Robert P. Cousineau, James R. Shults, Nursel Asikhan-Berlinguette, Rahul Ashok

Publication number: 20230310735Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments of electronic intravenous infusion pumps. In some embodiments, a medical infusion pump system can include a plurality of processors that are operationally isolated from each other. Some pump systems can include a modular electromechanical pump driver comprising a plurality of components that can be removed as a unit from within the pump housing without removing the components from each other. Some pump systems can include a handle formed as a unitary structure, the handle not including any portion of the boundary between panels of the pump housing. Some pump systems can include a memory within the pump housing that is configured to contain information about one or more pumping parameters for execution by at least two of the pump drivers. Some pump systems can include a connector configured to separately receive and secure each one of a plurality of different-sized IV pole stands.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 27, 2023Publication date: October 5, 2023Inventors: Robert P. Patent number: 11626205Abstract: A system and method for providing updates to medical devices is disclosed. In one example, the medical devices are configured to pull update files in response to the reception of an update message from a server. Once the update files are downloaded by a medical device, the update files can be installed. While the medical device pulls the update files, the medical device can continue with its normal operation. If desired, a user can select which medical devices should be updated, based on any desired factors, such as the physical location of the device, the model of the device, the type of device, and the way the device is being used.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 2017Date of Patent: April 11, 2023Assignee: ICU Medical, Inc.Inventors: John Arrizza, James R. Shults, Thomas J. Vaccaro, Patrick A. Ward
