    Abstract: A blade attachment between a propfan blade and a propfan hub in a propfan propulsion system for a tube-launched expendable aircraft, the attachment including a hinger on a rotatable propfan hub on the aircraft, a stem of the propfan blade rotatably supported on the hinge, a pitch control arm rigidly attached to the propfan blade, and a pitch control link universally articulated at opposite ends to the pitch control arm and to the propfan hub. When the hinge is extended, the pitch control arm and pitch control link locate the propfan blade in a folded position generally flat against the fuselage of the aircraft for storage in and launch from a tube. After launch, the hinge rotates to a retracted position and the pitch control arm and pitch control link concurrently rotate the propfan blade to an unfolded position for propelling the aircraft forward when the propfan hub rotates.

A bottom support extends tangentially from a first point on the cylindrical exterior surface and includes a planar portion which forms a base for supporting the body in an upright position. A transport handle extends from a second point on the cylindrical exterior surface for use in rotating the container between the upright position and the pouring position in which the cylindrical exterior surface rolls over the surrounding support surface during use.

A tape handling apparatus with a tape injection assembly at the bin entrance for injecting tape into the bin and a tape removal assembly at the bin exit for removing tape from the bin, with the tape being driven through the tape injection assembly to reduce the tape forward speed as it enters the bin, and with the tape being pulled from the bin by the reproduce head assembly through the tape removal assembly for establishing tension in the tape.

    Abstract: A control system for operating two magnetic tape loop bins in series with a continuous tape having an end of tape marker, including guides and drive rollers or capstans for guiding a tape from the first bin to the second bin and from the second bin past a magnetic head station to the first bin. End of tape sensors are positioned between the first and second bins and between the second and first bins to provide signals when tape markers pass the respective sensors. Each bin is provided with a tape drive motor and a motor control, with one motor being driven to provide about a constant tape tension and with the other motor being driven at a controlled speed which varies as a function of an error signal determined from the tape marker sensors.

    Abstract: A power turbine rotor drive shaft has a flanged end connected to a turbine rotor disc supported by a rotor bearing housing so as to be rotatably supported by a turbine rotor bearing assembly at one end of the shaft and including a second splined end thereon coupled to a shaft extension supported at one portion thereof by a roller bearing shaft assembly and wherein the shaft has a predetermined fundamental bending vibration mode between the rotor bearing assembly and the shaft bearing assembly and wherein an insert sleeve is shrunk-fit within an inside diameter of the shaft to stiffen the shaft so as to increase the fundamental bending vibration mode of the resultant composite shaft without excessively increasing the weight of the composite shaft.
