Abstract: Systems, apparatus, and methods are disclosed that include an internal combustion engine having a plurality of cylinders operable by a valve actuation mechanism that opens and closes the intake and exhaust valves during nominal engine operations. In response to engine operations indicating a cylinder deactivation condition, one or more the cylinders is selected for deactivation and operated by combusting an amount of fuel that is effective to limit air flow through the deactivated cylinder(s) so that the air flow and combusted fuel amount are less than during nominal cylinder operations.

In certain embodiments, service providers that provide forms in association with merchant's web sites for submission of transactions may implement pro-active threat detection based on an aggregate view of transactions in that distributed computer network.

Abstract: A wind driven electricity generator may have a tower with a set of stationary airfoils mounted thereon. Each airfoil may have a slot on a low pressure side of the airfoil. Air flow may through the slot relative to an inside of the airfoil. Air flowing through the airfoil may flow through the tower. The air flowing through the tower may turn a rotor (or propeller). The rotor may turn an electrical generator to generate electricity. Each airfoil may have a slot on a high pressure side. Air flowing through the slot on the high pressure side may turn the rotor.

Abstract: Methods, systems and apparatuses for providing high electrical resistance for an upper control assembly (including control handles) of an aerial lift are provided through an isolation member that is integral to the upper control assembly and interposed between fluid lines in the control assembly and a set of fluid conduits that extend from the control assembly towards other portions of the aerial lift. The isolation member is a dielectric element that comprises a manifold that is made of material that is substantially electrically non-conductive, and that has a plurality of through-holes or hoses configured to allow hydraulic fluid to flow through the isolation member into and out of the fluid lines and conduits. These methods, systems and apparatuses are preferably used in upper control assemblies of aerial platforms that can carry one or more operators in order to prevent such operators from electrocution when controlling the lift.

By comparing a received value for such a hidden field with an associated value for the hidden field as provided in the web page, the use of an automated script may be detected.

The connector and method of connecting of the present invention comprises a fool-proof method of connecting and a method of ensuring the safe and accurate transfer of materials. The connector of the present invention provides a plurality of male and female connector portions in a plurality of geometric shapes and colors and specific key components that prevent the delivery of and mixing of incorrect and incompatible materials. The connectors of the present invention are shaped differently from any connectors currently available on the market. Each geometric shape corresponds to a general class of chemicals. One embodiment of the present invention connector is a color coded element according to the shape, size, and configuration of the connector and the material the connector is intended to transfer.

Abstract: An apparatus for the treatment of a liquid comprising includes a chamber having at least one inner surface. The chamber is at least 80 percent enclosed. The apparatus also includes an ultraviolet (UV) transmissive tube and the UV transmissive tube disposed within the chamber and adapted for the passage of the liquid therethrough. The apparatus further includes an UV lamp and the UV lamp being disposed within the UV transmissive tube. A reflective material is interspersed between the chamber and the transmissive tube, and the reflective material is adapted so as to reflect at least a portion of light emitted by the UV lamp. Additionally, the reflective material is at least 80 percent reflective.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods relating to a device for increasing the firing rate of a firearm that may be retrofit to an existing firearm. The device includes an anchor mechanism affixed to a slidable butt stock of the firearm and also includes a finger hold connected to the anchor mechanism that translates forward to remove a user's finger from the trigger and translates backward to allow the user's finger to activate the trigger and fire the firearm.

Abstract: A motorcycle helmet that includes one or more white light type beam forming LEDs (LEDs with lenses that form a beam) mounted in the front of the helmet, such as the helmet forehead area. The LEDs may function as a headlight that may supplement the motorcycle headlight. The beam(s) projected by the LEDS can be steered or aimed at an object by the helmet wearer and may help the rider and motorcycle be more visible to oncoming vehicles or vehicles entering from a side road while at the same time having a downward pointing aspect and a power hat does not create glare for other drivers. The LEDS may be in a self contained module mounted on the outside of the helmet. The LEDs may be mounted or embedded in the outer shell of the helmet with the batteries and electronics being inside the shell and within the foam type compressible inner shell. The batteries and electronics may also be within the helmet neck roll near the bottom rim of the helmet.

Abstract: A system and method to provide a message handling system (eg email) user an alert when one or more messages remain in the outbox of the message handling system after the message transmission process has completed more than a user definable number of times or has been in the outbox longer than a user definable amount of time. Once alerted the user will have the option to take one or more actions (independent of the system and method) to remove the message or messages from the outbox.

Abstract: Technologies for managing a drug prescription may include determining submission requirements to submit a prescription of a user to an insurance payer for payment based on an identity of the insurance payer, generating a prescription payment submission form customized for the insurance payer based on the submission requirements, populating the prescription payment submission form with prescription information of the prescription and identification information of the user, and submitting the populated prescription payment submission form to an insurance payer processor server. Additionally, the disclosed technologies include receiving prescription co-pay information related to the prescription in response to submitting the prescription payment submission form and submitting an adjustment to the insurance payer processor server to cancel the submission of the prescription payment submission form.

The hollow cylinder extends from the attachment component and has a closed end. A plurality of apertures extend from an interior surface of the hollow cylinder to an outer surface of the hollow cylinder sides. The outer surface of the nozzle cylinder can be uneven. The outer surface of the nozzle cylinder can have an unequal radius. The nozzle surface can contain bypass slits. In one embodiment the nozzle can have a threaded attachment component at the bottom. A scraper or other cleaning device can be attached to the threaded component.
