  • Publication number: 20240190733
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by adding CO2-reactive chemical base to a body of water in contact with the atmosphere, and determining the quantity of carbon dioxide removed from the atmosphere or prevented from reaching the atmosphere. The alkalinity addition to the body of water is controlled by a dosing apparatus capable of determining an amount of CO2-reactive alkalinity required for achieving a permissible target carbon dioxide removal. A rate of alkalinity flow is affected by input from sensors that monitor conditions in the body of water.

  • Patent number: 8362411
Abstract: Concepts and technologies described herein provide for an accurate and cost-effective method for rotating a solar array disk for tracking the movement of the sun. According to various aspects, a motor includes a fixed caliper and a translating caliper positioned adjacent to one another. Electromagnetically controlled brakes on the translating caliper grip the solar array disk while adjacent, but spaced apart, electromagnets on the fixed caliper and the translating caliper are energized to create an attractive force that pulls the translating caliper with the solar array disk toward the fixed caliper. After reaching the fixed caliper, brakes on the fixed caliper are engaged with the disk, brakes on the translating caliper are released from the disk, and the translating caliper is pushed back to the starting location where the process repeats until the desired rotation is completed.

  • Publication number: 20110099923
Abstract: Concepts and technologies described herein provide for a cost-effective method and system for installing a solar array without utilizing a concrete foundation that supports a mast. According to various aspects, a solar array is attached to a helical anchor via a solar tracking mechanism. The helical anchor is a one-piece apparatus that is screwed into the ground so that the helical anchor includes an above-ground portion for connection to the solar array, and an underground portion that provides the foundation for supporting the solar array. The specific configuration of the helical anchor and a corresponding helical anchor blade may be selected according to soil and environmental characteristics associated with the installation location.

  • Publication number: 20070080947
Abstract: The Bartender's Buddy is an electronic bartender's guide that allows the user easy access to a variety of mixed drink recipes. The Bartender's Buddy is comprised of a small housing, a plurality of buttons, an electronic display and contains at least a circuit board and an internal memory. A user operates this guide by simply turning on the device, pressing a control key and typing either the full name or a portion of the name of a mixed drink. The ingredients of the mixed drink are then displayed next to the name of the drink.

  • Publication number: 20050263870
Abstract: A slotted file is created by connecting two side walls and a back wall. The side walls have etched grooves facing directly across from each other. The platelet has flanges that fit into the grooves. In one embodiment, a completed cube is formed when the platelets fill the slotted file.
