  • Patent number: 9635159
Abstract: An approach is provided for providing immersive interaction via everyday devices based on one or more interaction events. In an example embodiment, an immersion service processes content presented at a device to determine one or more interaction events. The immersion service further determines (a) one or more control signals for controlling the device, one or more other devices, or a combination thereof to cause, at least in part, the one or more interaction events; (b) one or more protocols for transmitting the one or more control signals; or (c) a combination thereof. The immersion service also causes, at least in part, a transmission of the one or more control signals to the device, the one or more other devices, or a combination thereof.

  • Publication number: 20120180063
Abstract: A method for providing management of parallel library implementations relative to available resources may include receiving an indication of a registration of a parallel library and determining processor utilization information based on current load conditions. The processor utilization information may be indicative of a number of processors to be made available to the parallel library for a process associated with the parallel library. The method may further include causing provision of the processor utilization information to the parallel library. A corresponding apparatus is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20070071328
Abstract: An image of high-aspect-ratio objects is analyzed to locate linear features within the image. The gradient direction for each pixel is determined, and connected pixels having similar gradient directions are grouped into line support regions. A linear feature is determined for each line support region. The linear features are analyzed to identify those that are co-linear. The linear features are then analyzed to find groups that are parallel and that sufficiently overlap. Additional sets of linear features that intersect the identified group are combined into that group. The line support regions of the grouped linear features are analyzed to determine representative orientation and/or dimensional information, which is analyzed to determine statistical information about a plurality of the objects. This information is used to monitor or control one or more processes associated with the objects, to reject the objects or a structure or device comprising the objects, or the like.

  • Publication number: 20050209714
Abstract: A method of predictive control for a single input, single output (SISO) system, including modeling the SISO system with model factors, detecting output from the SISO system, estimating a filtered disturbance from the output, determining a steady state target state from the filtered disturbance and a steady state target output, populating a dynamic optimization solution table using the model factors and a main tuning parameter, and determining an optimum input from the dynamic optimization solution table. Determining an optimum input includes determining a time varying parameter, determining a potential optimum input from the time varying parameter, and checking whether the potential optimum input is the optimum input.

  • Patent number: 6491982
Abstract: An apparatus and related process for immersing a moving wire within a both of molten metal is applicable to wire forming processes. A flat-bottomed tray has at one end a nozzle for dispersing molten metal across the floor of the tray, from a first end to a second end, in a sheetlike flow. The nozzle preferably includes a slot-like opening, and is associated with a chamber for receiving a supply of pressurized molten metal for discharge through the slot. The metal is discharged with sufficient velocity to create a hydraulic jump or standing wave, whereby the crest of the wave is elevated above the tray end walls. Within the wave, molten metal experiences a turbulent flow in a direction against the travel of the wire array. The wire array passes through the wave, thereby experiencing immersion while being drawn through the apparatus in a straight path without substantial declination.

  • Patent number: 5548982
Abstract: An improved locking bolt for a T-handle assembly is provided. The locking bolt has an associated security collar which encircles the bolt and prevents axial movement of the T-handle housing relative to the bolt when the threaded end of the bolt is threaded into the door frame of the closure. The security collar is held in place by a pin which extends through corresponding apertures in the collar and the bolt. A ball bearing is positioned in a recess formed in the bolt to prevent axial movement of the collar on the bolt in the event that the pin is defeated. The bolt and the security collar also act as a secondary locking mechanism by preventing rotation of the bolt when the lock is released, a special wrench being required to rotate the bolt after the lock is removed.

  • Patent number: 3955497
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for applying bar - half bar code to letter mail so as to permit electronically controlled mail sorting. The apparatus comprises a plurality of code wheels each having code printing elements on one surface and the corresponding numerals on the opposite surface, an inking source and a hinge mounted frame. Each wheel is manually controlled by an operator to code a desired numeral and in a preferred embodiment the surface of each wheel containing the number to be coded is enlarged to facilitate manipulation. Two flanges provided on a base permit ready alignment of a letter under the printing elements.
