  • Patent number: 7241430
Abstract: An activated carbon-metal oxide matrix is disclosed. The activated carbon-metal oxide matrix may be obtained by a method including the steps of: preoxidizing a carbon material, grinding the preoxidized carbon material; mixing the ground preoxidized material with a metal oxide to form a carbon mixture; extruding the carbon mixture; carbonizing and activating the extrudate. The activated carbon-metal oxide matrix may be used to remove odorous compounds, acidic gases, and volatile organic compounds from a gas.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 29, 2006
Date of Patent: July 10, 2007
Assignee: Siemens Water Technologies Holding Corp.

  • Patent number: 3932309
Abstract: A process for preparing a catalyst that has improved activity and efficiency for conversion of hydrocarbons is disclosed. The catalyst is prepared by applying sulfito complexes have the emperical formula M.sub.6 (x) (SO.sub.3).sub.4 where M is H+ NA+, K+ or NH.sub.4 + and x is platinum, palladium or mixtures thereof. In addition, the compounds M.sub.2 (x) (SO.sub.3).sub.2 and M.sub.2 (x) (SO.sub.3).sub.2 also have utility in our process. The complex salt is impregnated onto a support and activated by calcination in air or heating in a reducing atmosphere.
