The first member has a first heating panel and the second member has a second heating panel, the heating panels being adapted to heat a length of hair as the length of hair moves along a heating path therebetween in use, and being spaced apart in the operative condition to avoid pressing or clamping the hair therebetween. The first member also has a first pressing panel and the second member has a second pressing panel. The pressing panels are substantially planar. The length of hair moves along a pressing path between the first and second pressing panels in use. The length of the heating path is greater than the length of the pressing path.

Abstract: The invention relates to a hair styling device (110), and in particular to a device which can be used to dry and/or style hair. The device is expected to be effective in partially straightening curly hair and also for drying and/or smoothing straight hair. The invention provides a hair styling device comprising a first panel (114) and a second panel (116), the second panel being movable relative to the first panel. The panels are spaced apart by a non-zero spacing (S) when closed together. The device has an electric motor, an impeller, an electric heating element and an air flow channel. The first panel has first apertures in communication with the air flow channel. The second panel has second apertures in communication with an exhaust channel. The first and second panels are corrugated to increase the surface area of the panels and to increase the path length for hair passing between the panels.

Abstract: A hair styling device and a hair styling method are described, for imparting a wave to a section of hair, the device having a first forming member, a second forming member, and a hair-receiving region between the first forming member and the second forming member. A primary driving element is movable relative to the first forming member and the second forming member and is adapted to move the section of hair in the hair-receiving region in a hair-deforming direction. The device has a secondary driving element, movable relative to the first forming member and the second forming member, and adapted to move the section of hair in the hair-receiving region in a direction opposed to the hair-deforming direction. The secondary driving element can thereby drive the section of hair into a more relaxed position to produce a more natural looking wave.
