  • Publication number: 20190195133
Abstract: A turbine engine temperature management system includes a turbine engine having a first turbine and a second turbine, a temperature sensor positioned between the first turbine and the second turbine and configured to sense a turbine engine temperature between the first turbine and the second turbine, a modulating fuel flow valve configured to control a fuel flow to the turbine engine, and a temperature controller configured to limit fuel flow to the turbine engine.

  • Patent number: 9932120
Abstract: A turboprop control system 10 for use with a turboprop 2 having a turbine engine 12 operably coupled to and rotationally driving a propeller 14 having variable pitch blades 16 to control the engine speed, propeller speed, and propeller pitch. The pilot provides, by a single power control lever 30, the control input used to control the engine and propeller.

  • Publication number: 20160123232
Abstract: A method of starting a turbine engine using turbine temperature gradient regulation and a turbine engine temperature management system are provided. The system includes a temperature sensor, a modulating fuel flow valve, and a temperature controller. The temperature controller is configured to limit a rate of change of the fuel flow to the turbine engine to less than a predetermined maximum rate of change of the fuel flow that will reduce a rate of change of the temperature and maintain a positive rate of change of a rotational speed of the turbine engine and limit a rate of the fuel flow to greater than a predetermined minimum rate of the fuel flow that maintains a positive rate of change of temperature and a positive rate of change of the rotational speed of the turbine engine.

  • Patent number: 7202809
Abstract: A fast acting active protection system for military vehicles defeats RPG (rocket propelled grenade) threats fired from close ranges. The system minimizes the hazard to troops and civilians nearby. The system uses a plurality of passive sensors to locate the threat and initialize the system. A low cost radar or laser tracker is used as the means to determine range, velocity, and (if required) angular position of the threat. The countermunition used may be one of several choices, with the requisites being that the countermunition provides fast response with low inertia, and is able to damage or destroy the detected threat. A multi-barrel recoilless gun is the weapon of choice. A launching device is used to deploy and aim the countermunition and the tracking means. On board software and electronics are used to control the system.

  • Patent number: 6843589
Abstract: A low profile lighting system for military or other heavy equipment vehicles that includes a high intensity discharge (HID) headlight, and light emitting diode (LED) turn signals and running light. A microprocessor controller is included to interface to the vehicle lighting control system. An electromechanical actuator lifts and holds the light unit in place. The light unit is mounted on a hidden hinge in an armored and signature managed housing. The unique hinge design allows for electromechanical actuation of the lights from a micro-controller. The special hinge enables the external surfaces of the vehicle to be generally planar, and thereby ready to accept further signature management treatments.

  • Patent number: 6082240
Abstract: The invention provides clamps for providing a compliant mounting surface which protects the edges of brittle materials, which can be constituent components in armor panels. Thus the invention prevents concentrated loads around the armor. The invention is modular and allows for modular placement of a plurality of spaced apart armor panel layers.
